    Hello From N.C.

Hello to all I am new here and as of this monday I now own a
2000 Camaro SS Convertible 6spd Blue / Black all original NO MODS at all

This is the first Newer Musle Car I have owned I am a big Classic Buick Nut
This is a picture of my last Buick I owned and just sold on ebay

I have to say I miss the Big Red but I really like the SS and I also like getting
27mpg on the highway in my SS beats the heck out of 9mpg in my Skylark
it had a 455 big block in it with 3.73 posi rear not great on gas. I also like
the fact my SS is a convertible

I would love to get a little more power out of the SS What Mods can be put back stock later and "Really"
make a Difference? Some things just dont seem to really make a difference and then some DO..

Mite want to start by getting 4.10 gears, lid, long tube headers, sub frame connectors, and a tune, that will really wake up the car

Hey Ryan, I am from Lexington not too far from you. Nice looking car. I just started modding my SS I got in April. The lid/catback have made a nice difference on mine so far... or maybe it just made it sound faster. You have to cut pipe to do a catback, so you will have to weld it back on to return to stock.

    Enjoy your new car

sfcs make the chassis of the car stiffer. since our cars are unibodys, you can get problems with door to fender gaps later in the cars life. the immediate effect is that the handling improves and there's less rattling.
    ... i just ordered a pair for my z28...

+ 2 on the lid&catback, but the pipe cutting doesn't do anything, cause you'll never be going back to stock anyway! it really wakes up the car.
2nd big issue is suspension, especially shocks.

but before you lock yourself in the modding chamber: just drive, have fun!

He's right ! Just enjoy your new toy for a while stock. Get some times at the track so when you do start modding it you'll know if your doing any good. Half the crap out there is just money wasted with a lot of hype (lies) ! Forget the lid , while it does help some its mostly from the K&N filter. Put that $100.00 towards the complete K&N cold air kit , it really works a lot better. A good shifter like a pro 5.0 or Hurst might save you from a missed shift at red line & engine damage. A K&N oil filter with German Castrol Synthetic 0W/30 oil & treated with Z-MAX will keep the internals clean. Replace the fuel filter & trans. fluid & rear axle fluids with a Good synthetic. Put a Magnaflow or Hooker muffler on it , change out the plugs & 02 sensors and leave it alone for a while. Just drive & enjoy . A triple black SS convertible is one hell of a nice ride man .

    what are you talking about.
its been proven that a lid will add up to 10 rwhp.
the difference between a K&N and a FRAM filter is about 1 rwhp.

+1, lid really does the trick (though a cai steps it up). k&n doesn't add much power, but saves a little fuel.
