    Headlights?

I split my headlights and did the whistler mod yesterday. I'm very pleased with how they came out but it made me realize my lenses were cloudier than I had thought. I picked up a turtle wax kit with 4 steps of sanding pads and tried that. Took a da and a buffer to them and they came clean everywhere I could hit with the buffer. Looks like more elbow grease around the three "nipples" on the headlights. Any recommendations? Didn't have too much luck with the turtle wax restore kit

I wetsanded mine and used a 4" buffing pad and managed to get it real good around the nipples on the front. Been debating removing those nipples completely and smoothing out the lights completely

i almost hacked mine off yesterday. they serve no purpose that i know of and i could sand them so much easier without them there. wouldn't they leave discolored circles where they were?

Can you post pics of the headlights?
I'm doing the whistler mod to mine.

Also what glue did you use to put the headlight back together?

    Thanks

    1. How hard are they to split?
    2. Do you have to take it off of the car or can it be dne while still intalled?
    3. Is there a sticky for doing this?

To split the lights you're going to have to take them off the car. Put them em in the oven for 20 minutes. I had the oven at 225. Piece of cake to split after that. I used the clear rtv silicone but that's just personal preference. I'll take some pictures of how mine came out in just a little and a link to the threads I went b

i used the 3M kit. takes a while but pretty good results. you use a cordless drill with the sanding disks in the kit so you need to be careful not to cut through too much of the plastic or burn through them but you can get them nice and clear.

i have done several of these for my buddies and restored alot of headlights on my cars in the past, i wetsand with 1200 grit, then 1500 then 2000 and finish up with a good plastic polish and cutting pad on my air powered die grinder, it creates alot of heat but polishes out smooth looks brand new. be careful not to burn!

Thanks guys. I've hit it a few times with a buffer and sander. Everything looks great except little discolored circles around the nipples. I'm debating cutting them off and sanding them down to get them looking new. May sand it one more time before that though

just becareful with you sand them down, you will have the tendency to sand a flat spot. take your time, and do it right man!
