all 4th gens start as t-tops. the frame is the same, then the tack weld in the hard top pieces, which we just have to cut out, then add the trim pieces.

You will destroy your car if you do it...well maybe not destroy it, but your opening a big can of worms cause it will cause nothing but problems down the line. Just use the money to modify the car, and plus hardtops are rare so enjoy it.

I had a '97 TA with T-Tops for over 8 years, I now have a hard top Camaro, don't miss the T-Tops a single bit, my wife even says the Camaro is stiffer frame wise and handles better than the TA... she is far from being a car girl. find a T-Top car if you want them and just swap all your mods onto it, if you really want them.

i wish mine was a hard top but hard to find a hardtop and a 6 speed, your just gonna cut the value of your car in half i could see a trans swap or something like that but ttop thats just not a good idea

has anyone taken the fiberglass top off of a hardtop and just changed it to a acrylic top thus keeping the rigidity of the hard top with the view of a t-top?

Fiberglass top off of a hardtop? The hardtop is not fiberglass. Heck the T-Top is not fiberglass...

no i am talking about the plastic that covers the area that people are cutting off to do the t-top conversions. but instead of just cutting off that part just remove the entire shell over the top and what covers the c & d arms behind the seats.

suspect that you'd be making yourself your very own little sauna - and that'd be just the start of the problems... then again I could be wrong

no one has done that. and you'll regret it on any day when the sun is out and its over 75 degrees.
