govenor?

This is a discussion on govenor? within the Camaro / SS forums, part of the Vehicle Specific category; i have an o2 Z...M6 so with the top down i top out at 125,...n it just shuts off on ...

    govenor?

    i have an o2 Z...M6 so with the top down i top out at 125,...n it just shuts off on me,...? i dont kno why havent driven that fast with the top up so i dont kno if its an "all around govenor" or a top down safety feature even tho 125 is shure enough dead,......

    Could be - look on the drivers side door and see what the original speed rating of the tires is. Z rated tires came with a higher limiter.

    Get a resister with 3,400 ohms (SP?) they take off the governer

    How/where would you install that? Speed and rev limiter are programmed into the PCM.

    Its those speed chips that people sell on e-bay or you can save some money and go to radio shack or sumthing. I got mine off of e-bay and it took off the governer

    The convertibles came with "better-riding" tires that had a much lower speed rating. Hence the limiter........

    I remember the Hypertechs could remove the top speed limiters as well.
