    Got Slow!

My car has been down in Atlanta for a while now and my family brought it up to Tennesse. When they got here i hoped in and took her for a ride. She was sounding great and it was nice to be back in my Z.

I turn onto the main road in first and come up to 3K rpms and just nail her. I come up to 6K rpms and ease it into 2nd and throttle back on her. The joy off riding in her again just made me smile. But wait, something was missing.

Shes not fast anymore! Like literally slow. Like my 2.5 Altima slow...
What has my family done to her...

The check engine light isnt on, it isnt skipping, the motor sounds solid and great. I figured being away from the car would make it seem ungodly fast when i got back in it, not slow...

Am i missing something or is the car just getting aged. 100K miles...
I could have swore she was alot faster than that. Is there anything that could make it run slow without setting a code off?
    Jeez...

Guess ill have to, wont get to do that for a month or so. I just figured it could be something common that doesnt throw a code.

Plugs, wires, fuel filter, clean the maf, new air filter, check tire psi, get fresh gas, do a engine flush/injector flush. That should cover it, if one of those things don't do it, then its time to go deeper.

Hate to break it to you.. It's a cold hard truth, but someone's going to have to tell you.

Your family are serial killers. They've stuffed the trunk full of bodies and other assorted evidence. Now would be a good time to clean out the trunk. Be sure to check the spare tire well too. I'd check under the back seats for assorted bloody tools too.

At the next reunion, politely ask them to warn you next time, so you don't go online asking why your car is slow.

Seriously though, it seems to already be answered. Stale fuel. Gummed up injectors, fuel filter, or (hopefully not) clogged catalytic converter. You may also want to check your air flow. A dead squirrel on your air cleaner can really impede the flow. The same applies to the exhaust, but you should be able to blow that out with a little 6k RPM driving.

When I had a place about 1/2 mile from work, I walked an awful lot. I did drive to the grocery store, about a mile away. For over a year, it didn't see any speed over 45mph. A friend had told me a while back, "Cars like yours like to be driven." It was just sad. I had to hop on the highway for a drive. A good run up the on ramp, and a bit of quick driving (for like 30 miles), and it was happy again.

Well a few months has past and the little bit i do drive her i give some good 6K shifts. And some hard launches. At first she was spitting out a lot of black smoke. But seems to be clearing out now and running a crap load better.

My family just always put putted around in it. She don't like that shit.

Fuel! I let mine sit all winter and with good days take her out, But have no "power" Run her close to empty, Then fill her up with some 91 and let her rip!
