Your best bet is to probably find a used OEM one on eBay or craigslist. I try and stay away from any aftermarket stuff as it usually dosent fit right or you can tell the difference very easy.

Too bad you aren't closer to AZ,,,there is someone out here selling a perfect OEM SS hood for $600. Sounds like a deal to me.

So do I man. . . so do I. Just keep looking on eBay and craigslist, what i do is use google and type "Camaro SS hood craigslist". Then if you get a good hit see if they will ship it.

yeah it took me a while to find a ss hood, but i finally did. i just kept checking craigslist like everyday so when one popped up i was the first one to get it. i got one for $200 that was probably like $500 new the guy never used it and kept it in his shed for a couple years it still had the shipping stuff on it. its all fiberglass and needs some body work but its solid and doesn't flex at all so i am happy. thats another thing if you do get an all fiberglass one make sure it doesn't flex a lot or you could run into problems.

just grab opposite sides of the hood and see if you can twist it or bend it. if it is easy to bend or twist i would probably pass because it could be problematic because when you close your hood you the whole hood might just flex. but if it feels pretty sturdy and hard to bend then you are probably in good shape. fyi most fiberglass hoods are not straight they usually need a little body work, thats just the way they are.

how many layers of fiberglass they are made of, i guess. i had the same question, thats kinda why i just waited for one to pop up on craigslist i guess i got lucky. i do know that you should not buy a certi-fit one, they are terrible. it seemed to me when i was looking online that i would have to spend around $500 for a decent hood. when it comes to hoods i think you get what you pay for.

if that even helps at all.
i don't think i could buy one without looking at it.
