    They're a top tier but they only put detergents in their premium fuel...the whole v-power thing. Without the detergents shell's fuel is the same as any mom and pop station. Chevron puts their techron detergent in all 3 grades of their fuel.

    Lots of debate on that. Anyone who works in the gas biz will tell you they all get their gas from the same refineries, it really is all the same. The only difference is in the detergents or chemicals that the retailers may add. As was said above, Shell is a top tier gas, at least the high octane apparently. My friend's Porsche manual specifically recommends Shell. Chevron also gets high ratings. That's what I've used for years now.

    I've seen a couple of good threads on here regarding gas, but I can't find em now. But if you search some you can probably find them.
