    Full Throttle and A/C

    Just a quick question,

On a full throttle push, does the pcm or engine management software cut the A/C compressor off? It seems on full throttle with the A/C on warmer air starts to come out of the vents. If its just cause the compressor can't keep up or something no big deal, I was just curious if that was written into the software. Thanks for the help.

On my 1999 Z28 it cuts out at 100% tps or above 4294 rpm's from the factory.

upon wot the car will disengage the a/c compressor, pulling 6k rpm's is not exactly good for the compressor ya know. its totally normal.

A friend of mine turns on the A/C when he's at the drag strip. You'd think that it would rob power, but when he takes off at part throttle, it helps control wheel-spin, and when he gets going fast enough, he applies full throttle. Then the A/C shuts off all by itself.

He has a 2000 Buick Regal GS with a 3.8L supercharged (factory) that runs 13.6 secs. in the 1/4 mile with a few minor mods.. And it's a daily driver. Being a front wheel drive car makes it hard to get traction because all the weight transfers to the rear. So the A/C helps a little.

I am sorry, but this is stupid. Your friend needs to learn to drive his car.

It is not a good idea to drive row through the gears or rev the car past 3,500rpms with the A/C on. You will wear out the compressor very quick.

    Oh, it's stupid?
Have you ever tried it? Or are you just speculating?
He knows how to drive his car. He's been driving since before you were born. He'd probably smoke you in a bracket race.

    O.K., Internet tough guy!

Yeah, it's stupid and hell no I have not tried it!! Why should you destroy the compressor just to get a better 60' ? I bet he doesn't turn it off after the 60' to!

Does John Force have the A/C on when the lights drop? NO!

    Haha!

It actually is a bad idea and I know some tracks won't allow it. The main reason is because he could be bringing water onto the track.

Ya, track in atlanta ga kicks you out for that shit. You cant even run your ac in the staging lanes/lineup nor even the lines behind the lineup. Haha.
