I canceled my order today. They sent me an email and said they simply have not received any wheels lately and if I would like to cancel my order or continue to wait for some to come in. These wheels have been a giant pain in the butt to find and get on my car.

I use my old LE's rims for the track they look nice in some MT's LOL..

Guess you're not running a very wide tire then.

They are 17 x 9.5's. You can easily stick an 11 inch wide tire on that if you want.
How big of a tire do you need??
03-14-2011, 08:06 PM #27
I want 315's
03-14-2011, 08:06 PM #28
Pretty sure they are 17X9 also FBJ.

That'll still work fine. I've had 295's on there before, so I know the 315's will go. I actually prefer a little sidewall past the wheel. Actually looks like it has a tire on there instead of rubber bands.
Shucks even MT is now making a 28" tall drag radial for the 17 inch wheels now. Sidewall is what you need for that kind of stuff. Guys are going 8's on little 275 drag radials in the NMCA.

I was told don't go past 275. I'm looking at possibly getting some M/T's in lieu of my Nitto DR's once I save up some coin (next year, if it can wait that long).

Don't know why someone would tell you that. There is no harm in adding more sidewall, a 9 inch wheel will support an 11 inch wide tire easily, that's only an inch per side.
Hell, 275's are barely parallel to the side of the rim. Always thought that look was terrible.

Here's an 8 inch rim with 295's. As you can see it works quite nicely

Kinda was thinking the same thing...I know people running the 315 on the Nitto with a 17X9 wheel. I just want some more bite and I know width isn't everything when talking about the track. My car is mostly street driven, but will see some track time also.

Here's a set of 275's on little 7 inch rims. Looks okay to me.

I also run both 275's and 295 drag radials on 8 inch rims on the chevelle, I'll have to dig a pic up of that,,,,but I think you get the idea.
275's to me just look like they are barely streched around a 9 or 9.5 inch rim. There is plenty of room to add some width without any adverse affects.

Here's my daily driver, with 8 inch rims, I run a 10.5 wide tire on it,,,and it's just fine. They are 33" tall as well. Drives beautiful. Next time around I'll go with the 12.5's for more rock protection when off roading.

I had to change my order from 4 to 1 rim cause they said they cant find any wheels right now. Gave them another month since i only need one. Sucks.

I ran 265/45/16 auto-x sticky tire all around and was told that was too wide..
Yet when mounted they looked and were perfect for the wheels with no adverse effects..
Ran them bald and the car acted like it was on rails..
Even wear on all 4 corners too..

Yours looks fine to me Smittro. I think this "too wide" stuff started with this rubber band tire trend you see so much nowadays. Everyone wants big flashy rims, and most of them you see stick out further than the tires do
Ever see them where it appears the bead is being forced out to the wheels?? absolutely hideous looking. I just don't see the appeal.
It's a fad for the kids that will die and go away eventually,,,,I hope.
