    2002 Camaro SS SLP

The LS1 engine initially produced 345 hp, but that was increased slightly in 2001 to 350 hp (261 kW). So in other words, they have the Same power, a 99 would have 345hp and the camaro is bout the same, this might sound stupid, but i would put my money on a SS, just because all the races i have seen, ''stock vs stock'' camaro ss vs c5 vette, the camaro is just as good or better.

Are you forgetting the significant weight difference? Stock vs. stock, the corvette would win. The only stock corvette that a stock SS has a chance against would be the 96 and lower, with the crappy LT motors. There is more to going fast than just horsepower.

But off the line the live axle F-body can launch harder then the IR Corvette. Tho with the weight difference and the slightly better areo of the Corvette I'd vote for the vette. Its like any close race tho, if either driver makes any mistakes then the other car well win.

    Sadly now demodded :(

The Corvette would win in a stock vs stock configuration.

FYI: Your SS does not make 345 hp at the wheels. That's a marketing ploy. Even with every option SLP has I don't believe it comes to 345rwhp. You have to step up to the "tuner" cars (Berger, ect) to achieve that. The Camaro (Z28 and SS) has the same engine as a Vette (LS1 not the FRC LS6) but the exhaust is more restrictive and (depending on options) weighs up to 400 lbs more. I gonna guess that it would take a very skilled driver in a Camaro to beat even a semi-experienced Vette driver in the 1/4 mile.

While the Camaro is quite a capable handling car the disadvantage would be even greater in a slalom event.

Once again this is a stock vs stock configuration.

    2000 Camaro SS

Well i say if its from a dig i give it to the SS considering the facts that they have the same power but here comes the but

1> Gearing the vette has longer gears and the SS should have 3.23 were the vette might have something in the 2.xx (Advantage SS)

2> Rear end - the SS has a solid rear end which should make it easier to launch and should be able to launch harder

3> The SS will/should have more RWHP as they dont lose as much as the vette

From a dig i say the ss gets to the end of the 1/4 faster.... just my .02

that whole irs is harder to launch is bullshit.
i had a 02 vette and had no problems launching.

while the SS has the better drag gearing, the vette can weigh up to 400 pounds less.

its going to be a drivers race stock vs stock.

i ran a stock 04 c5 auto right after i had my car and i won. also ran my buds 00 c5 auto on the highway with my 300lb bud and i beat him as well, that was pre-ram air LT's, tune, pro 5.0, and SFC.

but my money still goes on the vette considering the weight difference. also the c5 irs is damn tough and prolly ALOT stronger than our crappy 10bolt

a newer camaro ss (98-02) is like 10-15k stock, a newer 98-04 corvette (40k-45k) personally i think its funny because look at the price of the vette and the SS is almost beating it ...

You are getting a lot better quality and more features with a Vette for those higher costs. Speed isn't everything you are paying for with an automobile.
