Fans wont shut off no temp reading.
I started her up to move her around yesterday, when both fans came on and wont shut off. Temp guage will not rise with engine heat. I changed the temp switch and still nothing. Engine is NOT over heating no SES light.. Coolant level is perfect no air trapped.. Suggestions?

This morning I went out fired it up and even when the engine is cold from sitting over night the fans come on. I also noticed while I stood there that the fans began to increase in rpms to the point where they almost sounded like they are both running too fast.

Other than the coolant temp switch and HVAC system, there are no other mechanical controls for the fans that I know of. Has to be a faulty relay, wiring or PCM issue then, doesn't it?

Do you have an electrical schematic for the fan system?

Wow, makes ya want to carry 3-4 spare relays in the car at all times doesn't it? I Would hate for one to decide to quit while 100's of miles from home. Especially one that is critical,,,like a fuel pump
Glad it was an easy fix.

Cool! Now you can get back to work on your other project -- you are on a 6 month countdown.

You sound like me. On long vacation trips I'll pack the belts too, as well as a tool kit for small things. I also keep a couple of spare relays in the car, as well as the laptop to diagnose any check engine lights that might pop up. A gallon of antifreeze as well.
That's about as far as it goes for the 4th gens unfortunately. Because if anything electronic were to pop up it's not a simple road side repair and pretty much requires a hook at that point.
The classic cars are much easier for road trips. I keep a set of points along with a dwell meter, a spare coil, fuel pump, antifreeze. That's about it, and it pretty much covers anything that might stop the engine from running Spark and fuel is about it for those cars. I can do any of it on the road side in short order without being towed. Simplicity sure is nice, I digress.

^^ Essentially the same, plus tire plugs and a roadside air compressor.
