guys on top of all that, NONE OF THESE CARS had the hood OR the spoiler. just all of them looking like a v6 in appearance and all of them having SS badges. The one I saw today was SUPER rediculus. It had the badges so high on the front fenders that they were damn near on the hood! LITERALLY! I saw this shit in my rear view! ITS GOT TO STOP! Its not flattery either. If I had a Z I'd keep it a Z. Heck, if I had a 6 and changed it to an LS1 I'd leave it badgeless!

and that would be badass! mystery machine.
on a side note... I mean its like getting a ZL1 on an SS, you just don't do that.

My SS is one of the only daily driver SSs I know of and I ALWAYS spot those two Ss on peoples cars so you know I bust them out. I downshift and basically start caniballistic behavior because those farts shouldn't exist!

Quote "furthermore obviously a z is only a few bolt ons away from an ss, so making it real besides the numbers isnt a hard feat"......exactly my point.......numbers are great for collectors and value but physically they are the same ( if they are the same how can it be a fake??)...last time I checked my VIN number never won me a race...
If I drop an LS6 into my car and put LS6 badges on would that be a lie??
Has reprints of paintings hurt the value of the true painting??? Hell no.
Has kit cars like the orginal Shellby cobra hurt the value of the true one's?? Hell no.
And with no pun intended, the day someone pays me for my car payments, insurance, tag, and gas then and only then might someone tell me what I can and can not do with MY car. Last time I checked I was in the USA.
Quote "why did we spend the money we did just to be undermind by some dumb ass guy!".....If I wasn't statisfied knowing I had a true SS then I would ask myself the same Question too and why I even bought it???...i
The SS is not a car within it's self but an optional package. I guess by your logic if I replaced my cloth seats with leather then my car will be a fake. Like I said earlier I would not sell it or advertise it as a true factory SS but I could say that it is the a Z28 with SS package....where would the lie be in that??
What performence car hasn't had clones???...It's not like the SS Camaro is the first to have been ever cloned....I think your more pissed that you paid more money for the exact same thing except build number and if it wasn't worth it to you too have the factory SS an economic's professor may ask who the dumb ass is???
Hell GM make's colbolt SS's....but I don't have SS badges on my car
It's not like we are compairing apples to oranges but apples to apples....just one has a sweeter color.
It's funny to me how people get so offended by a couple pieces of plastic....just be happy you have the real deal!!!!

I dont understand why anyone would do this to themselves. I mean, they gotta get razzed and owned on a daily basis. Anybody with any brains can pick out the sound of a V8 over a V6. Hell my wife can even tell and makes fun of them and she likes Saabs. I like teasing them when I see them too. Of course I like teasing loud Mustang GTs and Hondas too, but thats a differant story.
I always thought a V6 with a cam, headers, and maybe a twin turbo and some nitrous would be a blast. Ultimate sleeper. Still sounds stupid like a V6 but hauls ass.
But who really cares if they put some badges on their cars. Anybody that counts knows better, and if they dont know better they probably dont care anyway and probably drive Ford Escorts and Chevy Cavaliers. I mean hell we should feel sorry for them because they have to drive such crap.

I'm going to put some v-tech stickers on my car and one of those crooked fart cans on the back.

Aww don't worry it's not as bad as the WS6 I saw with a big VTEC decal down the side the other day. I wanted to pull a PIT manuver so bad.

haha i could have had a White SS for...guess how much? $7,998! but i didnt know much about F-bodies at that time. I didnt buy it because it had 100,000 miles. I thought that was alot of miles. Now i drive a V6 firebird.

Well right now the license plate on my v6 says ZU LATER... because I'm putting it on my Z once its road legal, but for right now, its really embarrassing. Luckily no one has pointed it out yet.2000 Silver Z28 w/ Sports Appearance Package, P&P TB, FTRA, Direct Flow Lid, Pace Setter LT's, ORY, Flowmaster 80, TCI 3000 Stall, Trans Go Shift Kit, Computer Tune, Richmond 3.73's, Bilstein suspension, Edelbrock torque arm, UMI Suspension bars, drilled and slotted rotors.

I understand the views of ss owners hating clone SS cars....because most clone owners will act like it is the real deal.....most but not all......and as far as authenticity they are fake ....true.....but someone could make a Z into exactly what the SS has and physically they would be the same assuming they used SLP parts.......and physically it would not be a fake in terms of physical properties......thats my point and only my point........so if some put SS badges on a z with all slp body parts and equal of better suspension and exhaust mods..power steering cooler....SS floormats....etc....then I would say they have the ss package although not factory or true..... and as long as they don't pretend it's authentic for respect of true SS then I don't have a problem with it even though I wouldn't do it.......IMO if someone can backup the badge then it's ok..........so I mean no disrespect for SS owners...just stating the fact that the late model SS camaro is nothing more than a package for the Z28...mostly appearance and suspension......and the only difference in the two is that one was put on by slp (a third party) before it was sold with a build number and code....the other was put on after the car was originally bought without a build number and code

WS6 T/A um... one badge at the back of the car. Big deal, I took the door ding trim off too. But damn it I got stickers!!!! Under the hood of course, it's a car. The idle alone gives it away. lope lope lope... it is a ls6 z06 but I aint puttin Z06 emblems on it. If I wanted a corvette I would buy one. (now that I make more money then I know what to do with.) I did think about getting the rear spoiler and front end on my 95 camaro to make it a 02 SS after I drop the s/c ls1 in it but now um I don't wanna get looked down on. Come on guys people buy what they can afford who cares what they do after that? Aren't we all in it together? If anyone asks me what or how I will be more then happy to help them, be it sticking a big block in a 3rd gen or or putting ws6 hood on a T/A. I was there before. Making the best out of what I had. Why we gotta hate? Everyone talks about VINs may it be a salvage title or a 2nd owner who really cares? I don't. If you build it, it will run... Group hug!!!

It is mentioned that the SS is an appearance and suspension package, but it is not always that. There is an option of a suspension package, otherwise it is stock Z28 under there. In all actuallity, you get a hood, spoiler, SS badges, intake, and catback. ANd of course you get the build number. That is what ultimately makes it an SS and enhances the value. All the other stuff can be duplicated. All you are paying for in the end is a build number. I had $13k in cash when I bought my car. I was willing to do a loan for up to double that. Trust me I could have bought an SS if I wanted. When I saw the color on my current car and the $3600 price tag it was a no brainer. I could spend the additional $9400 on mods and if I wanted the "SS look" I could afford that too. And I had the color I wanted instead of the typical red, white and black that all the SSs I saw came in.
Not knowing exact numbers, I think my car is almost as rare as a true SS just because of the color. I see SS cars all over the place, but almost never see the same color I have in any f-body.
I ended up spending a lot of the extra money on the car, but also had an outdoor kitchen and bar built on my pool deck, and a bunch of other things I wanted, and also was able to keep my other toys. AND I dont have any loans.

white, white and pewter
okay first off. i never said once that i was better than another camaro owner because i paid more for the ss package! my 99 ss is just a z with the performance appearance package done by gm, my 02 ss is a stage 3 slp car with a 6 speed,
the only problem i have with cloning is the guys with the z's who put all the exterior ss stuff on regardless of performance mods, start telling people its an ss. thats who i am mainly reffering to,
my attitude is "not an SS owner"
my attitude is a guy who has a passion for cars, a passion for camaros, and when i see the reputation and pride in jeopardy i am going to get angry.
fuck i mean i love the ss package to death i dont give a shit if i overpaid according to you, maybe the price was right for my piece of mind.
like i said before cloning cars to ss or is okay as long as you keep the heritage of your car, EXCEPT V6's
i dont understang why everyone hates me, all i am doing is trying to protect the car we all love!
honeltly and truly yes this is a free country with that so is freedom of speech. i can listen and reply constuctively without bashing one another, we are all supposed to be friends...

I hope I was never perceived as being bashing or anything......Hell as far as I'm concerned all here are my friends and hopefully equally returned.......and as I said I do understand and agree with you about false representation of SS's cars by their owners and I hate that even though I don't have an SS....I just hope SS guys don't think I'm a fake having a SS spoiler and hood....with the Z28 badges......I'm not trying to perceive I have something that I don't....I just love the hood and spoiler.....and other optional hoods wouldn't do it justice at least in silver IMO.....most aftermarket spoilers are to big IMO......after 8 years I was ready for a change and went so far as getting True SS parts for quality......because I love my camaro....Now for a funny ending...I went to the local Ford dealership yesterday (wife looking at SUV's)...and long and behold their set a new model GT with shelby cobra stickers and emblems all over it.....the whole nine yards.....I looked over at the salesman laughed.........and again this was a Ford dealership.........I guess people will do anything for a buck.
