exhaust question

ive got an 02 ss. i had the exhaust system replaced with all 3'' stainless from the cats back right into my dual center exhaust. theres no muffler on it now. my only question is the sound. for some reason, its not really that loud at all. i mean it sounds like a quiet flowmaster or something. the exhaust is flowing well but i thought with no muffler it would be somewhat loud. would some new cats, maybe high flow's change the sound output? car came with the 345 hp, exhaust package, i dont know if that means theres slp high flows on there now. also i plan on doing headers soon, so maybe that will help.

You probably have the SLP loud mouth bullet muffler located next to the driveshaft. But you should probably take that center mount off and give it to me... and then put on something else....

when i put my new muffler on, i turned it on with the tube (also 3") ending behind the rear axle. i was surprised at how mellow the sound was. i think it's from the cats. on the other hand i wouldn't call it quiet, even with the muffler in place (dynomax ultra flow).

Remove those cats and it will get loud in a hurry. The cats quiet the exhaust significantly.

if you cut the cats its going to be super loud.like annoying loud..you wont be able to talk on the phone while driving and it pretty bad...try the borla cat back kit..i have it on mine and its awesome!!!

disagree. mine is loud, but not annoying loud. mine is nice and deep. i have no cats into a super 40. im actually still thinking about cutting off my muffler altogether, make it really loud. i like really loud. i want it to wake the dead.

Just installed my LT's and started her up with just the headers on....It's loud but it's sooooooo good

yes the cats make a huge difference in sound. I was about to replace my stock muffler when i got my headers. Now i like the sound but im getting bored again. LOL
