Ive got a 3.8. I'd like ta know a few things. First...what motor should i go with...If i were to buy a 350 crate motor, the ones that come with 290hp. would i be able to find aftermarket parts for it? will i need to replace my transmission, and what else? and about how much for installation....really, anything you all know would be helpful...thanks guys.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
350 crate motor? As in Gen I type? More hassle than it's worth IMHO.
Engine mounts, tranny bellhousing pattern and electrical issues are some of the many items against you here.
I'm sure others will have more to say about this.

dude i used to have a v6 and wanted to do the same thing. Even if you wanna do it yourself it's still gonna cost you more money than to just buy a z28. What all have you done to your car?

catback flos, lid, slp cai, msd plug wires, 3 ten inch audiopipes in a custon enclosure, black c6 wheels, berger panel, put stripes on myself, which was hard, windows tinted, banner, bilet grille, black housing halos, smoked corners...i might be missin some things.
It might not seem like alot to you all, but this is my first car, and i wanna work on it...and ill prob keep it, forever.
Im a senior in high school, and i plan on working all throughout my college years, and using everything i earn to an engine swap...no matter the price, i wont get rid of that car.

i had a black v6 before this and i loved it to death but don't fall in love with your first car. the first four things you listed won't swap over to an ls1. A lot of the other things you can just take off and put the stock stuff back on (wheels, headlights, etc) and put on the new car and not lose any value in the car when you sell it. Your tint and stripes won't be a big deal, you save way more money on buyin a z28 and puttin stripes and tint on it than swappin in a new v8 in your v6.
Plus the stuff you've done to your car is not really that hard... swappin a v8 into it will be like nothing you've done before, if you can even get a hold of the right tools... payin someone to do it will cost you thousands more than buying a ls1 car that runs well.
Just go test drive an z28 or formula and you'll see what i'm saying... you'll be fine letting go of your first car.
