    Does 391whp seem low?

I just recently finished an LS2 swap in my 98 Z28. Its an LS2 block bored .020 over (almost a 6.1) with factory oversize pistons, a 227/233 .585/.585 cam, lightly ported/polished 243 heads and an LS6 intake. I still have a stock throttle body and crank pulley. The car is an automatic, so obviously i am losing a decent amount of power through the trans, but i was expecting somewhere around 420 or 430. Was that too optimistic of me?

391whp is a huge power but with that ls2 you should gain more power ..

every car is different, and yes being an auto (stall?) it robs more power that an M6. from personal experience, ditch the Ls6/stock TB, and get yourself a Fast, port the SOB and get an U/D pulley. also, since you lightly worked the engine over (bore/heads), it's not like you're going to see a HUGE increase in power. in some regards, yes, i believe you were expecting too much.

did you mill the heads? what's your C/R? the LSA on the cam? is the cam a custom grind? what about the tune? you dont mention anything about exhaust? what other bolt-ons are done to the car? whats the duty cycle of the injectors?

there are a lot of factors that you need to look into with the setup and no doubt you will find the answers and areas in which you need to address to get the results you desire. good luck!

Was the converter locked or unlocked when you dynoed? I think a ported FAST intake will do you some good too. Who did the tune?

391whp are good numbers, your cam isnt a huge one and you could gain more power with a better intake manifold. For cam only auto car with ported stock heads its not bad.
