The LS6 heads & cam are the big reason for higher HP from the LS6 as opposed to more ventilation providing the HP difference. 15% of '01 fbods and 25% of fbods received the LS6 block.
I believe I read that the block alone is the difference of 20-30 due to the ventalation increase, and I am almost sure that it was GM High Tech that did the dyno numbers. I am unshure if this was corrected so it may have well been 15-25 instead but I believe that they did dyno the other LS1 block in the exact same conditions so it shouldnt matter if they were corrected or not. Also... I am wanting to make sure that no one thinks that just because they had an LS6 block meant that they had the LS6 engine. The F-Bods that got the block got just that.... The block. They recieved all stock LS1 valvetrain and heads with the exception of a revised LS6 intake that was used in 01' and 02' years.

In your last sentence, did you mean to say 15% of '01 f-body's and 25% of '02 f-body's received the LS6 block?

What number would a non LS6 block have?

The reason I wonder if there is a number on the front of my block on the driver side... what is that number?

Does anyone know if there are differences in horsepower with the changes in the LS1's through the years? Were the 98-2000s rated the same?

So do the 01 & 02's have no egr system at all? Or just revised/ moved from the top of the intake? What about the air pumps??
