Did all SS Camaros 98-02 have the rear tail panel (the piece thatgo from bumper-trunk
I have a 98' SS and it does not have this area painted the same color as my car. I have bright red and the panel is black. I was wonderinging if the car might have been in an accident at one time and got it replaced and not painted, or did Chevy stat painting them later in the production years?
THANKS!!

Jetstream Blue Metallic- 2008 Z06 Corvette
Could be any number of reasons, the previous owner may have done it. Some very rare cars did come from the factory like that (read Berger) but more than likely without a pic, we can't really tell. Chevy did paint them the body color from the start though. Is yours a flat black, or a gloss black?

Mine appears to be a gloss black finish. Here is the only pic I could find at the moment.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
That is how Berger did their special edition cars. It's easily duplicated and has been done to several local cars here in the Phoenix area. It actually comes from the 1st gen SS big block cars (396 cid) having a black tailpan to distinguish them for the small block cars (350 cid).

So I guess that is a cool thing and I should leave it be huh???
Do you know if Berger still installed the bowtie/SS emblem on them. Mine does not have it.
