Blue- 2000 Camaro SS Convertibl
CME..too loud!
This will probably be sent to the exhaust section of the website, just thought I'd get as many opinion's of SS owner's before it happens. I have a 2000 SS with the center mount exhaust, I love the looks but it's as loud as hell to me, especially at full throttle. I want a nice throghty sound, but not the "Harley from Hell" sound it makes now. Anyways, can I keep the exhaust tips while replacing the muffler with ?? Just trying to get some feedback before I go to the muffler shop.

Of course you can . Next time you have the oil changed walk around the underside of the vehicle & see what kind of system it has . If your not sure take a picture & include it here. All you might need is a small resonator to kill some of the sound installed in front of the rear axle .

All I know is the Cat convertor is a Magnalow, everything after that is SLP, the pipes look pretty wide, probably 3". The passenger side door jam has the SLP sticker, pretty faded, but it has something about an exhaust option on it...does'nt really give any more info though.

i was just defending us old guys. when pete townshend (of the who) was young he thought it was a good idea to stand in front of a marshall stack all night at ear bleeding volumes. when he got old an couldnt hear anymore he realized it wasnt such a great idea after all.

magnaflow is a pretty mellow sounding exhaust. I put one on my buddies t/a. untill it warmed up it had that damn raspy sound. After that it sounded sweet as hell. It is as loud as the slp system but has a deeper tone to it. if you are interested in one let me know.

This is why in my mid-20's I took to wearing ear plugs when I played as well as when I watched others play (concerts and clubs). I'm now officially old (I guess - I don't feel or act 53 though) but I can hear just fine (more of less). I did do a bit of damage on the range and while playing when I was young but I'm far from deaf.

seems like most of the guys on this site are young. im 42 and feel old here. im just to busy with work to have a 40 yr old muscle car i need to work on every weekend. so i got an o2 ss. i still like to hear at least one gunshot a year without ear muffs. when im deer hunting.
