    Clutch Gremlins, no really!

After a 30 mile commute home, the transmission wouldn't go into 1st at a light. Tried letting the clutch out, then back in, still wouldn't go, 1st, 2nd, 3rd...nothing. Seemed like it was an eternity at a green light, but finally with a bit of luck, it went into gear with a little force, not like usual. Got home and in the driveway I could hear a high pitch squeal, until I pushed in the clutch. I continued to work with it, the squeal worsened and getting it into gear became nearly impossible.
I figured throwout bearing. Made sense with 110,000 somewhat punished miles. Put a nice Centerforce Dual Friction 12" clutch (DF395010), Centerforce thowout bearing, pilot needle bearing and Poly trans mount in my Shopping Cart at Summitracing.com.
Tried the car once more for a dinner run. Leaving Applebees I had to turn the car off to put it in reverse because it wouldn't go into any gear. On the way home I pulled into Kragen to see if they'll beat Summits prices. In the parking lot the car would not slow down. I had the clutch to the floor and it stayed going as though the clutch was out. I drove around the parking lot wondering WTF to do. I thought I ran over a plastic 2 litre bottle, but, at the same time I ran over it, the clutch started working again. No more squealling, and into and out of gear like a hot knife through butter. It doesn't make sense. I thought all of the clutch mechanisms were covered, so a plastic bottle jamming up somewhere???
I'm happy now, I don't have to spend the +$500 that I was going to.

my clutch experience is pretty limited....but it seems like your experiencing what i had last week.

pretty sure i had air in my system....get it bled.

you could also get underneath and check for leaks...my slave was leaving, never dripped, but it made the bell housing wet.

The clutch reservoir is full and I've never put fluid in it. I've put another few thousand miles on it since then, haven't had a single problem out of the clutch.

Don't know the crucial answer, Pepsi, Coke, sorry don't have the answer to that one...

My bad, I pulled the trans. and had a shop rebuild the complete trans. The slave is on the front of the trans, inside the bell houseing, with 2 bolts holding it on.
