Car scared me for the first time.
So I got my 3.73's in this weekend, and son of a bitch thats a hell of a change from the 2.73's. Theres no such thing as traction in first gear if I even semi get on it, so I know drag radials are in order. Anyways, with the old gears, I could get on it anywhere under 36, and it would downshift hard into first and kick real hard and take off. Well, I wondered how this would be with the new gears, so I got on it hard at about 25?(speedo is way off) and damn... car kicked hard sideways to the left, and as I corrected it, kicked to the right hard, and then I finally corrected it to center. I can honestly admit I was scared, thank God there was no car in the oncoming lane to the left. I really love these gears, but I really would love some stickier tires, haha.

Yeah its an A4, and '67, you may have balls of steel, but whenever my car does something I'm not expecting, it may scare me a little, haha. And yeah, I absolutely LOVE the howling come from the gears! Good thing my exhaust is pretty much loud enough to cover it up. Overall though, I'm extremely satisfied with the switch.

Midnight Blue- 1998 Camaro Z28 A4
Wow, I considered 3.73's for my A4, but I DD like 70 miles a day highway...
Had no idea the change was so drastic... I guess I should wait until it isn't my DD anymore.
Glad to hear you are having fun!

Sorry, when I was typing fight = right (I fixed it). But I'm not criticizing or anything. When I had my 1st "fast" car (69 SS 396 Camaro back in 1973) I experienced the same kind of thing. I was just laughing about the comments. It's nice to see the same kind of things happening to kids young enough to be my grandkids and to know that they are making cars that are capable of scaring you unexpectedly once again.
I also put 3.73's in place of the 2.73's in my Z. Much better IMHO.

silver- 1998 camaro
I just dumped a 4.11 in my 98 camaro that had the 2.73. With the 2.73, it ran 2.22 in the 60 and 9.22. After the swap (and with a set of slicks that hooked), it ran 2.03 and 8.65 respectively. The only drawback is now is that I'm at 3000rpm at 70mph. I can't wait to see what the 4000 stall converter does for it. A friend of mine rode with me and we burned the tires on the limiter in 3rd around an entire movieplex. Needless to say, I had to clean up after he sh!t himself and buy new tires! I've only had this car for a month, and I already love it. Anybody have a head/cam swap with proven driveability and big HP gains? Thanks and happy burnin.

i just got my car recently and it already had the 3.73s in it. Youre right about no traction in first. Wish I knew how much of a diff it really made.

If I'm going 35 and punch it, it'll slide to the right every time, (about a foot) until it finally grabs.
2.73s, A4, LT's, exhaust
I wonder what will happen if I get 3.73s
