Camaro SS 1st Option but 99-02 Dodge Viper?

I'm really looking for a nice 99-02 Camaro SS but a friend of mine owns a 2001Viper. He thinks I should spend the $ and buy a Dodge Viper over a nice, low miled Camaro SS. However, I think maintaining costs of a Viper is much higher than SS, and Viper parts costs more $.

My buddy feels otherwise but I'm dead set on the Camaro SS.

Forget that, the V10 is just a stump puller. For that kind of money I'd say SS Camaro is more bang for the buck... Either that or a C5 Z06.

Screw the Camaro! Its not even a comparison of rollin down the road in a Camaro that everyone I know owns, or a Viper.
Now a LSx WS6 is a little different comparison. But still...ITS A VIPER!

    A mint, low miles 99-02 Camaro SS - $10-15k
    A decent, higher miled 98-02 Viper - $38-45k

So, a Viper will be about 30k more.... not worth it IMHO.

have you ever driven a viper?
fast as hell, but getting in and out of them is alot more akward than an fbody.

not to mention gas and insurance costs.

Exactly.... fast is a state of mind. I paid for going fast in 1998, a broken hip and I pay every day since with pain. I just want a cool, rare American sports car.

I test drove a 94 Viper, terrible ride, hote, etc... but 99-02 are better so I heard, better ride.

SS Camaro hard to beat for the $$$!

Sure the viper has 2 more cylinders, but i mean cmon. 8 cylinders will still beat a civic.
