Camaro police package?
I took my car in to the dealer the other day to get an oil change and I noticed something strange when I got the car back the paperwork listed my car as (99 CAMARO/POLICE PKG. 2DR) is that some kind of misprint or is it possible that I have that package? Does anyone know what the police package is? the guy that drove off in my car to take it to the service garage was asking me a bunch of questions and I didn't know what to tell him, any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Yeah, I hope it's true, I just wonder why I was never told by anyone at the dealer until now and I have taken it several times for oil changes since I bought it in 99 and it never said anything about the police package on the paperwork until now. Does anyone know a way to find out for sure?

A true B4C will have the B4C listed on your SPID code sheet.
B4C's camaros are Z28s without the badging.
Hope this helps.Last edited by slim64; 11-28-2005 at 02:03 PM.

The extra gear they put in the patrol cars makes them heavy enough that they will not perform any better than any other car out there. The lights, sirens, radios, computers, etc. all add 250 lbs or more to the car.

B4C is the correct code.
It's essentially a Z-28 w/o badging and several other options.
The 4th gen cars have no factory extra coolers on them other than the ps cooler (std on SS)
They have no different tuning or gearing than a Z-28

Thanks for the info, I noticed when I bought the car new on the sticker it listed a power steering cooler and a couple of other options that I didn't see on other Z28's that I had looked at, that might explain why my factory brakes and rotors that have about 60,000 miles and 6 years of time on them still perform like new, atleast I don't have all that extra weight that the actual cop one's have in them, I actually removed most of the extra weight (back seat, spare tire & jack, and a few other things) oh well I love the car either way! Thanks again to evrybody who replied.

Custom Slate Blue- 99 B4C
I own a B4C, sorry but my profile isn't completed yet. A B4C has stock 3.23s and is more emmisions restricted than other Zs due to the fact that government cars have higher standards of efficiency than typical street cars. There are no other differences, it is labeled B4C just to denote that it is emmisions legal to be used in government service.

There used to be a definitive "this is a police package" from the FbodFather. If I can source it I'll post.

What TommySS said earlier. . .nothing power-special about it. Same engine, same tune, same cam, same intake, same exhaust. . .
Typically(not all cases) the B4C comes with cloth interior. . .cheaper and all...http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...r-01Z/sig2.jpg
Currently own 1995 Z28 (Silver-Automatic) - BONE STOCK!!!
Recently purchased 2001 Z28 (Black-6 Speed) - 3" Flowmasters and
other misc stuff. This, bad traction (2.21 60') and missed 3-4 shift
netted me 13.46 sec in the 1/4 mile. . .

Black- 2001 BC4
I am preparing to buy a 2001 BC4 Hwy Patrol Camaro as soon as it is taken out of service at 80,000 miles. This is my first Chevy and I am eagerly awaiting taking ownership. Any tips on maintaining it? What are some of the best low cost bolt-ons to get more performance from it?
