most of the replicas out there have chrome finish.....not sure if the stock ones were chrome also but most of the replicas are chrome....i would try to avoid that and stay with polished aluminum

You are correct! I bought OEM Z06 because they are one of the lightest wheels in the World OEM and 2nd or 3rd lightest GM has ever made. My OEM 18 X 10.5 rears weigh 1.3 lbs less then my SS 17 X 9 wheels and the fronts 17 X 9.5 weigh 1.9 lbs less then my SS wheels on my digital scale. I don't know the exact formula but I think 1 lb of rotating mass equals 8 lbs of stationary mass so its the equivalant to dropping 51 lbs to the car. Plus I love how they look 01 Z06 were made by Alco or something like that and 02-04 were made by Speedline. Color difference and material was the differences between the two.

I have the c5 zo6 replicas,, and the original c5 zo6,,and replicas are way heavier..you can tell the difference.
I think c5 zo6 are the best of the corvette rims..
They look great and they are the right size,,

Interesting thread, wouldn't have thought much about weight differences between replicas and the real mccoy.
I was looking into buying a set of replicas. Mainly because I want 17 x 9 all the way around. Can't find a set of OEM wheels like that unless someone has 4 front wheels (unlikely).
For the record, the OEM wheels were also offered in chrome as an extra cost option. You just rarely see them forsale, probably because they look great on the vettes to begin with. You'll see the painted OEM Z06 wheels forsale much more often, likely because the owners want some form of chrome wheels on their car.

Which 17 x 9 SS wheel did you compare the Z06 wheels to?? The ZR1 SS wheels or the 10 spokes??
Also were your SS wheels chrome to begin with?? I ask because the chrome plating from what I've seen adds roughly 1 lbs. per wheel. So for example comparing a chrome SS wheel to a painted Z06 wheel could skew the numbers even further.
Just trying to keep the numbers consistent.

I have owned 3 c5 z06's, and they were made by speedline. The replicas are alot heavier and are usually made in china. I have replicas on my 01 and they are ok.
