Yeah, you have an open differential...not a locker! Both wheels spin only if you have a posi unit or are a magician and have some special shit we haven't heard of...lol

    BTW, Welcome to the forums.

The SS camaros came with 3.23 and Torsen POSI. That's what mine has. Its still weak as shit. I just bought a bolt-in ford 9" I will be installing in the next three weeks or so.

So a positraction rearend is an option? I though it was standard with all ls1 cars. I know my 6cyl didn't have it but my ws6 sure does.

Wow, I would have been so disapointed if my car didn't have a posi. I didn't even check before I bought it.

If you have an LS1 you have it, period. It's not an option

An LS1 car without a standard posi? Don't make sense. I don't trust the option thing, my window sticker said the bucket seats and center console under the "options" I always laughed at that. "err no thanks I'll take a column shift and bench seat please."

'98 cars came with a clutch type diff, not the Torsen unit. Your diff is probably worn out. My advise would be to replace it with a Torsen diff like I did. I bought one from SLP for $99, but I'm not sure if they still sell them or not.
