NBM- 01 Camaro SS
Brought the '01 SS home, have some questions
Hey guys, all I can say is "It's great to be back in a Camaro"
I used to have a '94 Z28 M6 (4 years ago) and this one is a little different. To clarify the specs on the '01 SS, it has:
-40k miles
-M6
-SLP CME option (factory/SLP installed)
-Hurst Shifter (factory installed)
1) I noticed that the clutch seems really short and stiff. I don't know if this is normal? I remember my '94 you had to find that "engage/pressure point" then after that you could let it out. In other words, it had a lot more range of motion on the clutch pedal than this one does. The '01 engages right off the bat and as soon as that is done, there's no more range of motion. It's also pretty stiff. Is this normal?
2) The seller gave me a MAF with the car. I cannot tell what MAF is on the car right now (looks to be stock based on exterior aesthetics) but the one he gave me says SLP. This car had some SLP options but the options don't say MAF. This SLP MAF is not in a box or anything.
3) The air lid is MTI, is this a decent lid?
4) He also gave me Eibach lowering springs, 1 inch. These good springs for the car? Dont know what rate they are or anything. Anyway I can find out about this?
5) He's shipping me weld-on subframe connectors. Is there a web site I can go to that has a tutorial on how to weld them in properly?
I know this is a lot of questions. Hopefully this will help me out. I plan to replace all the fluids (engine, tranny, coolant, diff, clutch and brake). I appreciate any responses I get! I look forward to my future mods!

Light Pewter Metallic- 2K Camaro Z28
Congrats.
1. It's probably LS6 clutch kit
2. Stick with stock MAF unless you can tune that SLP MAF for your SS.
3. It's pretty good lid compare to others but lid is a lid.
4. I'd sell the eibach and use something else.
5. GL w/ that. lol.

BLACK- 2000 Camaro SS
2. SLP MAF is strictly an aftermarket part sold by SLP. It was not an SLP option you could get on a new SS.

congrats on the car.......
the clutch on my 02' SS and 01' ws6 were heavy and they felt very sensitive, like there was range of motion but you had to feather it.....its hard to explain, i have an auto now so im not fresh on my m6 skills lol......
i can say one thing, i would STAY AWAY from the SLP maf sensor, i had one and it threw an engine code, its done the same to many other cars, do a search on the forum about it, it leans out the car to gain a little bit of power, which is debateable if it even does.
anyways post up some pics so we can over it......

I must say, at first I wasn't crazy about the wheels ... but after washing them ... they have grown on me big time! I love these wheels! I've never been a fan of flashy/shiny wheels but wow ... these take the cake.

Very nice the painted hood scoop (aka manta stripe), usually looks really good, maybe its just the color they painted it, i think it might look better black, it would tie in with your headlights. I love the CME, no other exhaust fits the maro so well, that is definitely on my wanted list lol. Nice car man, enjoy

Didn't know it was called mantra stripe, thanks. I've thought about black or perhaps a dark charcoal color but I think I will just go back to the stock look on the hood. It might tie in better with my wheels to leave it stock. I, too, love the CME. That's what sold me when I saw this car.
Before I washed the car, I took out the air filter to see what it looks like and holy crap! It was caked in dirt! Being it was a K&N, I cleaned it out and re-oiled it and put back in. That ram air scoop sure picks up a lot of bugs and brings it to the front of the filter. I need to check that thing pretty often.

The second picture of the first 3 that you posted, it looks like the rear is sagging a bit, but on the last one (side shot), it looks level
Ehh, whatever, car looks sweet, congrats on your new LS1

TRIPLE BLACK- 2000 CAMARO SS M6 #2100
nice SS! what size tire is that in the rear? looked like it may have been a 315? if so dont throw those springs in just yet cuz you may have some rubbing and will have to bring out the big fu*kin hammer to make room. I had 315s on my old formula and they fit just fine for the most part but then put em on my SS when i first got it and they rubbed just about everywhere. the hips seem to be a lil wider in the firebirds.
