Blinking third brake light???
I have 2 SS camaros,,,one is a 2000 model and the other is a 2002 model.
I was driving the 2000 SS last night, it was dark outside and I backed up next to a wall and noticed in my mirror something blinking.
I thought I had a bulb flickering, going out. So my wife jumped out to see what it was.
It turned out that every time I hit the brakes the 3rd brake light, which is the LED setup in the SS spoiler,,,,would blink bright and dim about 8 times.
I thought what the hell is that??? I did it several times and every time it was the same. As if it's a safety thing... I never remembered my 2002 doing this so as soon as I got home I jumped in it and I was right,,,,,the 2002 doesn't do this.
I got curious and took the 3rd brake light assembly apart,,,,pulled the kick panel out of the driver side to have a look at the brake light switch. I can't find anything to make it blink.
I don't know whats up with it but it's a very subtle blink that is hard to see in the daylight.
Is this something that was on the older SS models??? I'm puzzled to say the least. Anyone else ever see this on an SS camaro???

ive seen some cars that do this... it might be the bulb. but my friends six gun camaro had an issue with the third brake light dimming and not working finally and we changed out the switch on the pedal and it worked fine. I think it has two seperate connections. One for the third brake light and one for the normal brake lights.

Nope thats not it. You can't simply replace the bulbs in these LED SS 3rd brake lights. I've tried in the past when I had a couple of them burn out. These things are soldered in and trying to replace any of the bulbs basically ruins the entire 3rd brake light assembly. I simply had to replace the entire light as one unit.
Besides, I had it apart to take a look and cannot see any signs of tinkering,,,and comparing it to my other SS,,,,it all appears to be the same..

Nope thats not it either. In that link,,,,it makes the 3rd brake light turn completely off and back on....
Mine doesn't do that. Mine simply gets brighter,,,,and it does this about 8-10 times.
That link also shows a rather bulky switch with wiring that has to be spliced in,,,,it should be easy to find,,,I took it all apart to have a look and didn't find anything like that.
It's got me stumped.
