best year SS
I am leaning towards buying an SS m6 or a WS6 m6. What I was wondering is if there is a better year to buy. Also I have heard rumors that the early years of the LS1's had a oblong bore. How false is that. The last question is if the SS is a better buy than the Z28. Thank you for the help. I will more than likely be buying the car in November once I get off deployment with the army. So any help is good.

never heard of that, the 98's had a bigger cam but smaller exhaust manifolds, the z28 is the same car as the SS without the hood and smaller rims, unless it comes from SLP. if your getting a WS6 i would get an 01 cause of the rims. but if your going to get an SS or Z get an 02

Black, Blue- 07 TBSS, 07 GSXR1000
Go 01 or 02 because of the ls6 intake.

Silver- 1998-Camaro SS
Best Year SS
The 1998 SS has a larger Cam & bigger fuel injectors, but a smaller manifold than the latter SS's. It has an Auburn rear. It also has an EGR valve. The 1999 has a torsen differential and smaller fuel injectors than the 1998. However, the 2001-2002 SS's has problems with piston slap. The temperature gauge on the later model SS is not that accurate. However, it comes with the ls6 manifold.

Best year SS
If you can afford the 2001-2002, then go for it. However don't be surprised if you have piston slap. I hear it can be very annoying at times.

Just bought a 99 SS vert M6 with 70k for $10,500 Owner started out at $14,500. He got brought back to reality quickly. SS deals are out there. You gotta just be patient and look. Most are advertised way too high IMO. Plus anything older than 00 your probably NOT gonna want the financing term and rate. You can finance an 01 for 48 months and an 02 still for 60 months at most lending institutions. Otherwise you'll need cash. Owners who are selling SS's older than 00 really can't afford to pass on a REAL buyer if they are in a bind financially.
As for which SS year is best? Shit man they all run good! I would have liked to had 97 Anniversary M6 with LT4 or LT1. They are just too cool IMO. This may not be fair to the LT1, but if you wanna run and gun all the time then get an LS1. Don't get my wrong LT1's are TOUGH and have really nice low end torque but the LS1 is just plain faster. Either one will get you in front of rustang. And both can be modded to hell an back.Last edited by Huskerz1; 04-21-2006 at 09:05 PM.

NBM- 99 Camaro SS
SS or WS6 M6 excellent choice, can't go wrong with either! As to what year ? Well
basically they got a little better every year so a 01 - 02 would be a logical choice.
Some of the 02's got the LS6 blocks, along with intake that both the 01-02's
came with. Any any year is good, as long as car has been taken care of !

silver- 1998 Z28
if it's really a big deal between ss and z28, you could save a few thousand, get a Z and mod the fuck out of it, and buy the ss hood for what you'll get the stock ss for.
