wow that sunoco w/ no line really does look mean. i would never give up my ram air for anhything else though for performance reasons. the ram air hoods on these cars actually function very well, and since terrorizin the street is what ls1's do best, most races are from a roll and thats where the ram air comes into play. despite the fact your son likes the cowl (and it does look good) i gotta tell you to get the ram air and the lid setup to go with it. he wont be disappointed.

very untrue. gains are very substantial even if it WERE 2% that's still 7-8 rwhp but that doesnt accurately depict the performance advantage of rammin air into yer motor. lets just use stock car as example: stock cam, LT's, an air lid. without hood you will run outta breath around 5800, however, each gear that number goes up cuz of the extra air supplied by ram air setup. so 2nd gear would be 6000 3rd would be prob 61-6200. ANY motor that can rev higher and breathe WILL produce more horse. i got my redline set different for every gear and i can tell a difference. so...the gains from idle-factory redline may be 2%, but the usable rpm you unleash delivers way more than that. so you have a peak hp number of a higher value. hope this sways you to get the ss hood.2000 red ss: >2" drop, koni adjustables 'n 275 s-compounds all way around, giant brakes, dynatech LT's, borla catback (no plate), t56, tubular everything, HARD TOP, caged, "stock" heads 'n a mean cam. -2* front camber.

Or they could get SSRA set up and gain way more horsepower for $200. hahaha

well as long as it is understood the benefits of RA setup i guess ill shutup.

someone told me that the ram air adds arount 1psi extra of air around 90mph and like 1.5psi around 120. Not sure how true it is or isn't but sounds kinda legit.
