Best exhaust for V6
So I'm wanting to get a new exhaust kit put on my 01 and right now I have a Flowmaster with a cut out not sure what series(came on the car when I bought it) I was thinking about doing a straight pipe and no muffler. I'm not sure if it will make the car sound louder or not. Any ideas would help. BTW the car is majority stock so keep that in mind. Hopefully she won't be to stockish for much longer.

personally i hate the sound of a straight piped v6, if i was you i''d throw a magnaflow on it, not louder but more of a deeper sound versus the typical rasp

I had a friend who straight piped his 2000 V-6 and it sounded horrible. He didn't last a week with the sound, so he put the muffler back on.

It will sound head busting loud and not very good.. Trust me.. I need to rethink my 01 Camaro's exhaust that I built cuz it sounds like crap. But don't have the time @ the moment (time being devoted to other build).. The ONLY think keeping me from ripping off my current muffler is that god awfull drone of the 3800.. imho don't do imho you'll HATE it... just my .02

Which heads and what cam? There are some options out there I'd imagine good for @ least 50 N/A crank hp with supporting mods. I try to stear clear of phases like, "best cam, or which one is the best, or what = (X) hp.".. When it comes to the right cam/heads for your needs/goals and the engines capabilites. If you want to bolt on hp I'd get an eaton blower from the l67 FWD cars and go from there (top swap would be good).. If you want to build it, I say the stroker sets looks nice, then heads, some headers, cam I can't see there being much of a limit except maybe money.. But then again there are junk yard combos too.. But like I was saying, , good flowing heads, and a higher compression ratio, tune, would be a good prolly 30 rwhp + headers and maybe 15-25 hp more.. So say 230-260 rwhp n/a.. All guesses.. Make it breath and keep it fed is what it needs to boil down to.. There are 8 second 3800's and 22 second ones too..

This is what she sounds like now. I think I'm going to keep what I have for now and just get some new tips.
