I will back you up...I run the Dynatech headers and they are great.

Can't you get long tubes with high flow cats and still pass emmissions tests? Damn you Cali and your stupid hippie laws! Like Arctic said, don't waste your money on shorties, just get yourself an excellent catback I guess...
    It's all good, A

The problem I believe is, in the state of Cali and a few others now, the cats have to be to stock specs, and be in stock location as well...which is impossible with longtubes, and barely manageable with mid-length...

I agree, get a GOOD catback that you know you'll like. go to ls1sounds . com and listen to some sound clips of different catbacks. I, myself, would recommend GMMG, Borla, or Corsa....can't go wrong with any of those choices...of course, you have to have a hefty amount of cash for any of those, so a cheaper option would be Magnaflow. I myself run a Flowmaster 40 Series, and it sounds great too....especially with LT's and not cats ....still think I need a cutout eventually, the neighbors aren't pissed enough yet, they still wave at me all friendly when they see me

Thanks for the input, I have heard that if you have to have mid-lengths, they are pretty much the way to go.

I was looking at hooker catback. Are they alright? And midlengths will have to be my choice then...Really sucks!

I have never heard Hooker on an LS1 before. It sounded damn good on my buddy's old 396 though ...it's probably on the site I mentioned above as well, but hey, it's Hooker. How can you go wrong with that brand

I have heard good things about Hooker on this site...could be the way to go? Unless you want to drop money into the exhaust (which I decided to do since im not going all out on my car)

Personally I really love the magnaflow sound! But I went with the SLP loudmouth II for sound and flow and I love it. PLUS it was only $180 on eBay.

What kind of gains did you get from the SLP Loudmouth?

It's hard to say since I did the headers at the same time. But driving the car from my house (right after the exhaust install) to my work where I had the headers put on made a very noticable difference. I removed a 40 series flowmaster for the SLP exhaust.

After running open headers right after the install, I didn't even wanna hook a muffler up to it Buuuut, I didn't want to burn up the valves, or pay for multiple noise violations

mid-length headers would be pretty easy to install too if you can't go lt's. so glad i live in michigan where they let our cars run wild . Lt's and no cats is always going to deliver the best sound. i say, take your camaro and move away from california!
