Bent a rod today... FML... i hate friday the 13th.

    yup.
went through a deep puddle ive been through a thousand times, guess i hit it wrong today tho. as soon as i came out the water every light in the dash light up an the loudest THAP THAP THAP THAP shook the hell out the car. i shut it off that second, had it towed to a buddies shop, an yup, bent rod. Friday the 13th blows.

any suggestions on a new engine? should i rebuild if the block isnt trashed?

are you sure you bent a rod? sucking in water will cause the car to shake for a short period of time. the noise could misfire. to bend a rod you would of had to hydrolock that motor

next question is why you going puddling with a camaro? its not a truck

it wasnt a shake tho it was more like six people shakin the car side to side. i cranked it back up two times an it was just as bad.

an i know it was stupid but thats the only way out besides goin the highway route where i had a very bad wreck a couple years back.

44 days in trauma ICU (33 in a coma) was plenty for me to stay off that road.

cars and engines can be replaced.i agree with you on your route selection.a ls6 long block would be a good choice, imo, since yours is a 01 and has the ls6 intake.scroggin-dickey advertises the ls6 long block for a little over five grand

    im really considering the ls6,

id like to go the crate motor route so i could get a warranty, an sell off parts of the ls1.

an would my stock wiring harness work? with a tune id imagine?

id love an ls3 but it seems like it requires alot more.

i guess that's depends on your plans for future power output, my car's a daily driver not a pure strip car so i'd probably take a long block ls6 and be happy.the guy that did my tuning(www.speedsouth.com) recommended several engine combos depending on what i wanted as far as power.
