the only option on my 98 ss is the no-cost M6 (and, of course, the SS package). no pwr anything, no rear hatch button , or anything. ordered it that way from the factory in 98. just turned 20,000 miles and have all the bolt-ons including mild cam and LT's

    My first reply

This sounds just like my car. 2002 Z28 M6 1SC car, my window sticker lists only "Hurst short throw, 12 disk Monsoon, and rear window defrost". It has NO power anything, just an LS1 and a M6 so nothing gets between you and what your doing.

If any of you guys want to see a write-up on a real 1SC, take a look at the August issue (on the stand now) of GM High Tech Performance magazine. It's their project car. Last month they switched out the auto transmission BACK to a 6 speed, as the original owner dropped in a auto. So the question still stands as to whether they came fitted only with manuals. Some nice pics of the car, and a decent article on their future plans to shave off even more weight. All the factory "block off" plates look good where the options you're used to seeing..I.E. power windows, power door locks etc...were. Interesting note: the car did come originally equipped with A/C

All of them did as well as power steering and brakes. Those weren't really "optional" with LS1's, just the amenities such as cruise power windows etc.

I am doing some further research on the 1SC RPO code to see if I can't find some facts about it. So far "1SC : OPTION PACKAGE 03" but I still can't tell you if it meant M6 only. Something else I remembered about my buddies stripper Z, it had no fog lights or electric hatch release.

    GM RPO door codes for pontiac firebird & chevrolet camaro: 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 & 2002 cars

1SC Option group base (Z28 coupe) 1203 built in 2002

1SC Option group base (Z28 coupe) 517 built in 2000

I found the following for 2000 1SC RPO:
1SC Option Group: (from 2000 model year)
    Four-speed automatic transmission
Power Group: Power Antenna, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors
Protection Group: Includes remote keyless entry and theft-deterrent system
Monsoon sound system with compact disc player
Hatch roof (listed as "A" for "Available")
    Power seat, driver six-way

    thats awesome man. good info!!

i actually was dabbling over at tech and found out that atleast the stripper model lt1s did infact include automatic transmission cars. i cant say that though for RPO LS1 (i like to get technical).

i know they did however offer a/c on the 1sc rpo code and i believe there was no rear defroster but i think fog lights was again an option.

for a "no options" car there sure were alot of options. funny.

From the previous post I made, it appears that the LS1 1SC cars were factory equipped with a T56 but had the option to have an auto tranny.

I ordered my Z28 as a stripper with these three options:
    Hurst shifter (waste of $325)
    Rear-defroster
    Z-rated tires (no speed limiter)

No leather, no fog-lights, no power anything...nuthin'. I've done some weight reduction too, so I'll have to weigh her at some point.

Yeah, that's on the list... Unfortunately, I'll be adding weight when I beef up the rear with 12-bolt/S60/9-inch.

I have to have tunes and A/C, but I've removed:
    Back seats
    Hatch speakers
    Monsoon amp and wiring
    Spare/jack
    Bumpers
    AIR/EGR

My exhaust system is pretty light with !CATS! and BorlaMouth and the Suncoast SS hood is prolly a 1/4 the weight of a factory Z28 hood. The ASP pulley also saved a few pounds...

    Weight I've added:
Wet nitrous system with 10lb bottle
    Subframe connectors
    Driveshaft loop/brace
    17-inch rims/tires
    Tubular PHA/LCAs

I'm really curious to put the car on the scales...

the strange is pretty light from what ive read. of course a ford 9 inch would be WAY cheaper, and way heavier!!

im thinking about the tubular k member also but its not a necessity yet so maybe in the future.

danziger if you can get some pics up whenever you have time, that would be awesome. have fun in spain. how are the women?? HOT?

I'll probably just go with a 12-bolt for price/weight considerations.

Lots of nice-looking young ladies over here. I'm married, though, so no touching allowed!

When I get home I'll post up roll up window pics. The more I read the more I am certain mine is a 1sc given the lack of anything but the defroster. Only thing I hate about it was the 16 inch non Z rated tires and now a top speed of only 77 MPH (gear change untuned so far). The guy in my club saw the code on his door so I know 100% his is. plus its a SOM M6 car.

I need to rescale my car I know I saved some by removing the EGR & AIR and the headers weighed alot less but the UMI torque Arm was almost 3x the weight of the standard one and the 9" is a bit more than my original one.
