FWIW, me and a few friends in our local F-body car club busted a dude older than me that should have known better over this.

Even though he is the original owner of his 02 SS when asked to produce proof of it having an LS6 engine he couldn't. It DID have an LS6 block though.

I'm sorry to say, you've been misinformed by that book. There are tons of seasoned vets on these kind of boards that have been around the block a time or two... 67CamaroRSSS has been around the block over a dozen times . We've seen this question come up hundreds of times and the answer never changes.

    2008 Z06 - Velocity Yellow - OEM

And I'll submit, in all sincerity, that your book, if it states what you've said, has incorrect info.

Won't be the 1st time that incorrect info has been published either...

Having been around the block a time or two (or a dozen times or two - laughing or not you are indeed correct there) does have it's advantages at times...

Is that a section of engine blocks? All those casting #'s are just block #'s.

I have the 2001 build sheet for Camaro and nowhere is it listed that a B4C had a complete LS6.. I can scan the sheet upon request.. But I got it from here anyways..

1st off all 2002 Camaros have a badge that says "35th Anniversary" above the radio. Your 2.73 geared car is a base model Z28, same as my 2002.

True 35th Anniversary cars were all SS/LE's painted red with silver stripes on the hood that broke up into a checkered flag. All of those that were A4 had 3.23 rear gears (like all the A4 SS's had).

The book page you posted is block casting numbers. As stated ~25% of 2002 V8 Camaros had and LS6 block with LS1 guts. There is a reason the Vette LS6 cost's way more than the LS1 and that has to do with heads and cam.

You say that someone in your family bought a 2002 Z28. Did they buy it new? Do they have a window sticker that states it has an LS6 engine or does it state LS6 on the door sticker? Or was the car modded (more than a few were) with over the counter parts into an LS6? That I'll believe. No F-bodies (that anybody knows of) left the factory destined for random dealerships with an LS6 engine under the hood. That would've been a very costly mistake for the General to make and the LS6 engines all went to to the Vette assembly plant.

There were aftermarket tuners (GMMP among others) doing things to cars after they went to a dealership but that is another story.

the 35th ann. badge was above the radio and we had sold the 02 for the b4c we have now.

I'm sorry, and I'm not trying to sound disrespectful, but none of your story adds up at all. HYPOTHETICALLY, if your car did have an LS6, and everything else was OEM, there's no way you'd nail a 12.01. 04 Z06's were low 12 second cars with an average of around 1.90 60 foots. A 1.64 60 foot is not on a street radial tire... especially with 2.73 gearing.

You see where we're all coming from? None of this is making any sense at all. Like 67CamaroRSSS said, complete LS6 motors were shipped to Bowling Green, KY NOT Oshawa Canada. The cost for GM would be huge.

No one is fighting or arguing, just trying to get to the bottom of this conundrum.

I have this same book btw, and it doesnt mean it comes with a full ls6 you are misinterpreting that book. Btw that is a pretty good read if you comprehend it well enough, and I would believe and trust the thing I have heard on this site.
