    Air bag light

looking at buying a 2000 SS camaro, it has an airbag light on, on the dash. is this something that can be reset or sensor replaced.

what would normally cause the light to come on

The car can be scanned for body codes by a GM dealership. That is about the only way to determine what the issue is and whether it is a simple fix, or the kind you have to take out a loan for.

It could also be as simple as just plugging the air bags back in. It's pretty common for people to disable them.

Ours are unplugged and have been for many years. I never even notice the air bag light being on I've gotten so used to it.

Just have a look under the steering column for the large yellow wire with air bag warning labels on it, see if it's plugged in. It's a quick check. If that one is unplugged you can bet the passenger side wire above the glove box is unplugged too.

If they are plugged in then you'll need to do what Jeff suggested and start with scanning for codes and see where that leads.

if its a module or senor ect,,, any chance modules and such would be usable from a discharged air bag system from another 2000 SS

I don't see why not. But I'm not all that familiar with air bag systems so hopefully someone else chimes in to confirm.

That's a good question. Did you have it scanned?

It takes a special scanner to read the body codes.

    Congrats!
