thanks, figured I was overlooking something. Didn't know that factored in like that but it makes sense now that you have mentioned it to me.

If the 2000 has the bigger cam than this thread needs to be updated:

All the basic Camaro stickies combined into one thread (differences in F-body years)

which in turn would have to have this one changed. Differences between the f-body years As it says the 2000 has the smaller cam.

Anyway I can shed some lite on the non EGR equipped LS1's
All `97-`00 Corvettes and all `01-up LS's use a cam with a 116/117 or tighter LSA
The tighter LSA bleeds more exhaust gas into the intake charge during the overlap period and negates the use of an EGR valve for proper emissions.
The `98-00 F-body cam has a 119.5 LSA and is specific for those cars.
The Corvettes of the same Vintage use specific cams aswell (with a tighter LSA).
I thought I saw somewhere that in the early LS1 F-body cars they had a shortage of "F-body" cams and thus they used the Corvette ones. A lot of people have said "They are the same cam." but from this is looks they are slightly different. Hrm.......

On my 98 they didn't have to tune the cat just delete something in it so no lights went on. Mine was odd a newer TA but they do have a slp one that has a egr hole in it. I have no issues passing emmisons .

    You are correct
There was a rumor that some F-bodies got Vette cams but the differences between these cams isn't enough to warrant an gains in power or torque, so the point is moot.

FYI heres a list of LS1/LS6 Cams by year

If there was no difference in power why would they make them different? Just seems strange.

That's typical for GM to make things more complicated then it needs to be.
Some of the differences have to do with emissions compliance (EGR or lack there of as I mentioned earlier).
You also have to remember the Original LS1 (1997) was for the Vette only.
The F-body engine while overall very similar had it's distinct differences which were due to Packaging (Intake/Exhaust tracks). If both engines were dynoed (engine dyno) side by side it's likely they would be within 5 HP of each other.
You wouldn't feel 5 HP on the street but ask the Kid in the C5 I schooled back in `99.
