No joke, the original owner had to move back to London, apparently he had a small collection and blew em out to pay the mortgage....my 1st choice was a '62 impala with a 383cid/506hp SBC, that car was gone by the time Roy replied to my inquiry, only the '69 was left so after a couple days of research on the 572 i told him i want it.
He only had 2 cars and i wanted both of em, he was asking $6900 for either one, i was in the right place at the right time....told him i couldn't wire the money until Thursday and he said that was fine, as long as he knew the car was sold was all that mattered....
A 3rd party auto-shipper out of Cali. is handling the details, here is a copy of the emails from the shipper....the car is shipping from Ohio BTW.
I have deleted pertinent information from the letters with a (x) to protect both me and the seller...

If i don't like it after a while i'll flip it and buy something else, but it should be fun for a while...
I'm probably gonna slip a "gear-vendors" OD unit ($2500) on the back of the TH400, that'll numerically drop the final drive ratio 25% and make hiway cruising more pleasant.
not sure how the motor is gonna run on available fuel, may have to add crank-fired ignition, programmable timing computer and methanol injection to get a handle on it....the key to pump-gas tolerance with a motor of this caliber is having full control over the ignition system.
Crank-fired ignition eliminates the slop between the front of the crank and the back of the camshaft and supplies the ignition box with a accurate TDC measurement, the distributor timing is locked out and all adjustments are made thru the timing computer...rate of advance, amount of advance, multi-step retard, start-retard.....etc
We shall see soon enough, l8rLast edited by Olde Skoole; 12-15-2007 at 07:46 AM.

The car is inspected by a 3rd party (auto-shipper).....
The money is wired to the 3rd party, they have the car, title.....
there is no way i would just send money to a private individual and say ok, send me the car....lol
the 3rd party wires the money to the seller after i take receipt of the car...
this way everybody is protected financially, me, the seller and the shipper...

2000 Camaro SS- 1969 Z28 JL8 crossram, #'
I'd be real careful with a BS 3rd party company. $6900 for a 69 Camaro with a 572 in it! No way. I hope this isn't a scam for your sake but you might want to double and triple check the details. You can cancel the wire if you already sent it but I would try to find somebody that lives in the area to verify it's a real deal.

Thank-you, as much as I've been thru i think i deserved this one...
This car is not very practical for me but i couldn't pass it up at that price, i told him i wanted both the '62 Impala and the Camaro but the '62 was already gone......damn.
Oh well, i'm pretty stoked right now and want to see how the 12:1 engine performs on pump-gas before working on the ignition..
Anybody know if there is enough material on the 12:1 piston dome that i could mill it w/o sacrificing strength...?
I could install thicker head-gaskets but then I'm increasing quench which is undesirable.
The only way to substantially lower the compression on the 720hp version is to change the pistons for the 620hp units because all 572 heads have 118cc chambers, it's either 9.6:1 or 12:1...choose your weapon.Last edited by Olde Skoole; 12-15-2007 at 07:54 AM.
