damnit. i was going to say that exact thing. Also, not to start a war because im not this technically knowledgable but i am fairly certain that if i modded my car and raced an automatic with similar mods and a stall i could keep up. dependant upon the gears i had yes but ive heard it said in this forum that no human can shift as fast as a stalled a4. have trouble believing this because it (theoretically) doesnt matter what shifts it just how fast you can get through the gear box. what if i had 4:10s with about 390 ft/lbs. i think i could pull on an a4 even if they owned the launch. the point is that anything can happen. Manuals are second nature to me so i vote accordingly.

confirmed, i drove stick for years in different cars. i've had it! wouldn't trade my auto for anything. when i get back into a manual car, it's usually fun for the first 10 minutes. after that it starts to suck, especially in big city traffic.

I'm sure there is a writeup somewhere on how to remove the block and enable the manual selection of 1st gear. Just search around, I'm sure you'll find it.
i have 2.73 rear gears and i can shift into first. and i don't think my shifter is modded...

Good point. i have driven manual for as long as ive been driving, and have own 4 manuals and only 1 auto. yep, traffic sucks.

I scared myself the other day tho. i thought about getting another GTP grand prix and modding it.(their fun but not as fun as a v8 w/ RWD

alright fuck it. get a manual, because i cant hold my tongue anymore. stalled autos are cool and all and they do make launching alot easier, and you can lay back and just drive and all that. but what the fuck are you, a homeboy? An ls1 equipped car is a drivers car. i cant believe i gave into that bullshit earlier about traffic, i must not have balls. get a manual and bang out your own gears and actually drive your car. as for traffic, stay out of it. i am totally bias towards manuals so you can take that how you want.
just hurry up and get the damn car..............

    I have had both A4 and M6 LS1 F-bodies. I've grown more partial to the M6.

    Handles power better
    Better MPG
    Easier to fix

The A4 doesn't hold up so well. I mean you can get it built up for $2000-$2500, get a $800+ torque converter, or convert it over to a TH400 or a Powerglide if you start making real power for about $4K.

I put a Textralia clutch in the car, and if the M6 needs a rebuild I'm not so worried about doing it myself. I can have the trans out of the car in under 2 hours without trying.

And I don't really mind shifting in traffic.

    Just my nicklesworth of advice.

Screw what everyone ELSE thinks you should get, DRIVE BOTH. Make up your own mind.... Do you have someone else telling you the color to get ? what year ? What style ? ( SS, WS6, Z28 etc) IMO Bag that noise, DO what feels good. I have owned both, I swore to never own an auto...yet now I have a stalled A4 and LOVE it...you better have some big HP to make up ground outta the hole bogging a stick in anything to catch up IMO. No saying it won't happen, hell it has already.
Anyone with the time and incentive can build an argument for either decision..
YOUR the one driving the damn car
This of course is MY opinion and subject to the same scrutiny as anyone else's.

Ah sorry, the accented words are to highlight, not imply anger .. I tossed in a smiley to show I was happy, I am sorry if I came across pissed, wasn't intentional. Just meant to show my opinion

PS and that last sentence was Entirely intentional
