5th Gen Camaro

This is a discussion on 5th Gen Camaro within the Camaro / SS forums, part of the Vehicle Specific category; Very cool, but I hate those side mirrors. I'm betting that those and the IRS won't make it to production. ...

    05 Wrangler
    00 Z28 sold :-(

I second that...those side mirrors are hideous...and probably as functional as the SS hood

I dont see them building it. GM is in too much financial trouble to build a car for a small market. I think their efforts will probably be spent in the familt passenger side before anything is dumped into another camaro. I read in another post something that GM has not even inquired with suppliers yet about parts, dont know if that is true but still I wont hold me breath on this car.

good point. I remember reading that GM quit making the Fbodies b/c the stockholders wanted them to sell vehicles that sell and the Camaro/Firebird platform wasn't anymore.

Well, I don't see too many Azteks running down the road either. Since GM doesn't do very well with the decisions it makes, maybe they should simply study what Dodge and Ford have been up to.

The Charger and the Mustang aren't having any problems selling. Neither is the 300. RWD with a V8. At least turn the Impala back into a RWD car! WTF is the use of 330 HP in a Wrong Wheel Drive car? Give me a break.

    Get back to the basics.

They are going to have to build it. Chrysler has taken a big chunk of the pie when it comes to passenger cars. How did they do it? By having performance versions of pretty much all of their models. Peformance is selling right now, they better get this out there while the market is still hungry for it.

That's pretty funny. Everyone always says something about how F*rd is atleast building a pony car, and selling a crapload of them. Well, they're in as much financial trouble (even more so, since they ARE smaller) as GM is.

I love it... I don't think it looks too retro... which is what I was afraid of. It looks muscular yet modern.

I like it. I was afraid of a retro design, but this isn't too retro. I hope the IRS stays too. Not crazy about the instrument cluster though. However, if the rest of the car comes out looking close to this, and they get the powertrain right, I'll buy one.

WOW found a list had forgot all about what all GM owns... i knew ford owned... astin martin, jaguar, landrover, Lincoln, mazda, volvo and maybe others, but GM does have gmc, chrvrolet, pontiac, hummer, cadillac, holden, opel, buick, sabb, and saturn...

oh and about the camaro... i think it MIGHT happen... if i remeber correctly they are doing a GTO facelift... i think it will all depend on that... if it does well they will release the camaro, but from the concepts i have seen the GTO will bomb... so im gonna say no go on camaro..

oh and hate to say it, but if it aint t top i wont drive one...

that was the whole f body thing... they had t's for 35 years...

well i might drive one... ill make my decision on power...

T Tops didn't appear in F bodies until the late 70s, around 1978 I think, I'd have to double check my Camaro book. T tops actually appeared on the third generation Corvette first.

OHH My GOD!! What have GM done!! It's the end for the Camaro!! Now the Mustang people are going to complain that GM ripped off the design off the new Mustang! Thats the last thing I wanted to see!! I'm going to cry if the final looks like this!

The only thing I like are the side mirrors and the true duel exaust.

Uhhh... they're trying to bring the Camaro back from the dead... Who cares what the Mustang people complain about? They've been complaining for years! That car doesn't look anything like a rustang!
