I guess. I've never been asked in 9 years what my gas mileage was though. I have been asked though....
    - What exhaust
    - What do you have done to that thing
    - How much power
    - What year (by rookies obviously)
    - What cam are you running (uhm...the stocker )

People that have it "stuck" in their head that these cars are "gas hogs" probably won't believe you anyways when you tell them it gets high 20's mpg.

    That is fine.
Still thinking they may be even leaner than stoich though to be getting 29MPG with a cam.

11's is too fat for an N/A build.

    I get 20'ish' on the highway. M6.

Maybe but even scanned mine never showed a hint of any problems when I had it.

It all depends. Slight incline could put load on it and start pinging if too lean.

Not saying yours was or would. Just that it is a possibility.

My mods are lid, s.t. headers, factory upgrade slp exhaust, s.s.r.a, k & n, t.c. bypass ls6 intake and a tune with efilive tunes. (also the cam and heads as mention above)

has anyone else got this kind of economy with a camed car??
Yes we get just a hair over 30 mpg in my wifes 6 speed car on highway trips with a small cam. Don't know the specs on the torquer V2 cam, but I'm sure it's bigger than ours.

We consistently get 22-23 around town driving as well.

You are right, and these cars are programmed in the factory tune to run at stoich (14.7) with light loads. The only way to change that (that I'm aware of) is to change the switching points on the 02 sensors in the tune.

I've read of people doing this on more than one occasion. Moving the switching points of ~450mv up to 500-550mv to lean the part throttle cruise and force the car to run at 15.0 AFR or as much as even 16.0 AFR. People were reporting back 2-3 mpg increases, and it doesn't hurt the car on light loads while cruising, just have to log for knock and make sure your not on the edge.

I experimented with this on my own car using HPtuner after hearing so many success stories. But after running 3 tanks of gas through the car I found no change in our mileage, so I put it back to stock settings. It consistently gets 29 mpg cruising at 85 mph, slowing that down to 70 mpg gets us 30 mpg and change, even with a small cam.

I figure it's good enough so I gave up trying the little tuning tricks.

You are right about the 11 ish being way to rich, Idealy you are looking for 12.0-12.5 in power enrichment mode

The specs are 595.,598, 232,234 with a 112 +2 duration. What is yours? That is really good!! Just don't step on the gas miliage goes way down.

I probably get anywhere from 12-17mpg in mine...and that is a total guess. I guess I could check it once just to know, but honestly, I don't care because I bought it to enjoy it and I tend to have a heavy foot at times. I don't want to know how much I spend on fuel each month. It would probably make me sick...and most of you as well. All of my miles (what limited ones I have) are city cruising miles. Rarely does my car see the e-way.

I have an Impala LTZ with the 3/6 cylinder engine management system for keeping gas mileage records. I average about 25-27 with it, and that is all highway miles just about.

my very worst was 20 m.p.g and i had it floored most of the tank! I thought that was impressive. That was before i had a cam and head job in it though.

Some people might not realize but there is what is called a "lean cruise" on these factory tunes, but they don't work in the u.s cause of emissions. There is a way to by pass it though so you could be running a 15.5 a.f.r at cruise and light loads without damaging the engine. It is only good for around 2-3 m.p.g gains though.
