2012 Camaro SS to get supercharged
Motor Trend had an article (plans for the future) of all major vehicle manufacturers, and GM stated that in late October 2011 they will introduce a supercharged 6.2 LTR. motor with 555 HP / 605 TQ. They mentioned a convertible for the 2011 model year, and they said they will not offer this motor in the convertible.

The vert will not be able to withstand the torque number generated by the S/C engine. (Coming from one of the vert engineers mouths)

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
Z28 will be blown, not an SS. Z28 is back to being the top Camaro, the way it should be.

Someone will transplant that motor in a droptop and reinforce the chassis. A car guy NEVER lets an obstacle stand in their way.

The new GT500 will be packing 550 horses and will weigh at least 100 lbs less, not to mention all the other refinements to the suspension

blacker than wesleysnipes- 98' trans am
x2 ..however i am confused why they didnt just use the LSA engine ...granted the torque is amazing on the new engine compared to the LSA..but seems like a lot of money to spend on a new engine with similar stats ...
oh well...not offering a vert z28 just killed it for me. i dont know what 5th gen is in my plans now.

I agree completely. Why spend an extra 10 grand on a ss camaro when you can get a lighter faster mustang GT and put 10 grand in you pocket. GM needs to address this and do it quickly. And as far as the Z28 goes its supposed to be far away from the vette in price according to article i've read. IMO its just gonna be too expensize for most to afford. New vettes are between $58k and $68K depending on how you get them. So with that said how much will the new Z28 be? Theres almost a $20K dollar price difference between the SS and the vette now so if you cut that in half and tak on 10K to the camaro you arrive at a $50K dollar camaro. Well thats stepping of a vettes toes in terms of price and performance if you ask me. I see big changes in the futre for the Vette if they drop this Z28.

I agree NA is better. You can supercharge anything let the aftermarket do that. Anytime the manufacturer get involved in supercharging you pay for it..........dearly. My opinion the new Z28 should have gotten the Z06 engine mated to a manual tranny. 505hp NA Z28, give the customers the option of getting it with very few options.
