i will agree tho..the 4.6 was around for too long..the 5.0 should have been out 5-8 years ago

The comparison was that the c5 z06 generally runs 12.1-12.5 with 405hp and better gearing. This mustang will run 12.3-12.7 once real world drivers get there hands on them. I was just saying if your not impressed with what the new stang will be capable of then your not impressed with what the c5 z06 is. But since you said your not impressed with the vette then i guess it doesnt apply to you lol. But you are right the vette is gms flagship and this new mustang will be running side by side with all the vettes other than the z06 and zr1.

the c5s yes...but the c6s not so much. the c6 runs c5 z06 times or at least very closely.

i will be surprised if the mustangs run 12.3 stock .. 12.5-.7 not so much.

True, most ls3 c6 vettes run 12.3-12.7 which is damn close to what the stang will run.

The L99 is nothing more than an LS3 with DOD. Once they are tuned they really come alive. They have already dipped into the 12's with these. So they are capable cars, they were just delivered with a handicap.

I've raced a couple of the manual trans versions and they do well enough for what they are.
But for the automatic mustang to be in that territory already is impressive enough. I'd like to see how the manual trans version runs.
Once people start tinkering with it, who knows.

And that's part of the problem. Something Ford doesn't have to deal with as the only manufacture still out there on their own.

Until that happens (and I don't look for it to) GM is going to continue to struggle.

I have a feeling Ford is going to sell a ton of these stangs. My neighbor is buying one and has been to the dealer on several occasions. They are really trying hard to push off the (what are soon to be) left over models before the new ones hit the floors. They have marked the prices down so far on the 2010 models that it's even tempting me
The feeling I got while I was there was that they are getting so much traffic about the 2011 models and people just waiting, that the 2010 models are now just sitting around. I believe sales are going to jump for Ford here very shortly.

I don't see the new mustang running side by side w/ an LS3 vette that can run 11's stock....I've also seen C5Zs run in the 11's stock as well. If this mustang is cutting down a full half a second compared to what the magazine can run then I would be quite suspicious about it being "stock."

Yes they can run 11s, but it is extermely rare. Like i said MOST run 12.3-12.6 stock, and the new mustang ran a 12.8 by a magazine. Real world drivers will get them to run 12.4-12.7s which will be right next to a stock vette with the average driver. I know a couple c5 z06 owners and out of the 2 i know both are decent driver and neither has runs 11s with there cars.

Tell them they need a driver mod! But seriously the vette is what, 400lbs lighter and the ls3 has 20+hp over the mustang....I don't think it should be that close but I suppose time will tell.

The stang gt stick shift is supposed to be 3400lbs with 412hp
Base c6 is 3370lbs with 426hp. IDK where you got 400lbs difference

There weight is almost the same and the hp difference is 14hp

I've read 3600lbs + for the mustangs and always thought the base vettes were around 32xxlbs.

Its def a faster car 1/4mile wise with very simular trap speeds.
The fastest Camaro is actually a 12.6. Do some research.
