I gotta say that I drove a 08 gt manual tranny and thought they were pretty nice. Definitely didn't feel as raw as when I hop in my car, and you could feel the weight of the stang when starting from a stop. Overall power was good and felt fairly refined from what I was used to.

I'm going to pretend... in the back of my head... that they're pieces of shit, in every way.

    The GT500s are nice though.

I raced a M5 FI 07 GT in my Vette, we were even. Not impressed, my Z/28 would have walked it. My vette puts 293 to the wheels.

Driver mod plays a big part..

    I've seen an exhaust-only 07 (I think) GT pull a 12.9. Only once though.

Old high school friend of mine has an 05 GT vert. Isn't faster than my T/A (although more comfortable ), but it is faster with me driving it oddly enough.

Our LS1's are closer to the new Stangs than some of us like to admit, I think (not better, just closer). It's a drivers race usually. The difference is most current LS1 owners are performance guys, while the Mustang crowd has a lot of excess baggage in their ranks.

Think of this...in 9 years, this is the BEST Ford can do? 9 FRIGGIN years of R&D? 9 years of new this and that? We're talking about almost a DECADE of time, that's an eternity in the auto world gentleman!
Would a 1960 anything be able to compete with a 1970 454 SS Chevelle?
    Would a 1995 C4 Corvette (original ZR-1 excluded) be able to compete with a 2005 C6 Corvette?
I think you are getting my point. Ford has had 10 years and this is as close as they can get to beating a car that has been out of production since 2002?

Gentleman...this is why we drive Chevy's!

Well when you compare the 2005 Mustang to the 1995 Mustang....the level of improvement is about right!

Ford's performance levels just havn't been up to par with the rest of us ever since they came out with that damn Mustang II.

i dont know if you did or not but you probably should have gotten a tune when you got the headers. that is the biggest reason why you lost. mine ran like shit when i first bought it. i got a tune and i am very pleased with the outcome.

base stock gear ratio is 2:73. 3:23s were an option in a4 cars. but the m6 part is correct.

I thought that the Z28 A4 did have 2.73... with the option of 3.23 like you said but the SS A4 came with the 3.23... I dunno

I saw 3 of them here in Cincy a few weeks back. The Camaro looks good.
    The LS3 car sounded nice!

My car is an 02 Z28. I have a lid, FRAM, Magnaflow cat-back, Diablosport Predator, Nitto 555R's that are stock 245 width. My car is an A4 with 2.73 gears.

My best is 12.796 at 108.40. His best is 13.4 at 104. Running together I beat him by at least 3 tenths everytime and a couple of times beat him by 5 tenths.

His car weighs almost 200 lbs more than mine. We weigh the cars at the strip everytime we run.

Through the 1/8 we are real close, within 2 tenths and 1 mph. It's the top end ability of the LS1 that allows the Z28 to literaly walk away from the Mustang.

Mod for mod our cars are about as identical as you can get. I'm getting 3.42 gears next and I'm looking for mid 12's. This seems to be the way it goes with these two cars. When they were both stock they were about a half second apart. As we match mods they stay about a half second apart, gears will give me a much larger advantage because the 2.73 is such a poor place to start and he had a decent stock ratio (3.55 I think).

this post is very similar to what i have experienced--- in the 1\8th they are close but the ls1 will walk away on the back half

New mustang 09's with trac-pac, 3.73's and such are running very fast magazine test times. 4.9 0-60, 13.4 1/4 104+mph at motortrend. 3.73 option from factory is nice to battle all the new challengers and camaros.

    Camaro FTW... No Question...

Based on one simple fact... Dudes who drive Mustangs, are semi-female, therefore they are unable to drive...

Totally agree. Its kinda retarded that Ford still cant compete with and beat a car that is 7 years out of production. The only thing they have is the 03/04 cobra, but thats a differant case all by itself.
