2000 Camaro z28 Mild build time
Hey guys, well recently i was out cruising with my friends and decided to do a little burn out for them. After it was all said and done the camaro developed a little click click click click. i knew exactly what it was... Bent pushrod fml.. . I figured with it bent that bad its time to tear it down and check the pistons, i figured i bent a valve really bad. Turns out the only real "damage" was to the hole in the head for the pushrod to fit through, and a broken pushrod guide. The pistions were fine!! At that point i decided i have it torn down that far i might as well do everything i ever wanted to do to the car. I started off with a TSP cam, 233/239 .595/.603 @112 lsa for a little chop. New timing chain, ls7 lifters, new pushrod guide, comp cams hardned one piece pushrods, 799 heads, ported ls6 oil pump! im pretty excited and will post pictures as the install goes. Im still waiting on the parts to arrive! wish me best of luck here.

Thanks alot. Been a really good car and I have really romped on it. Aside from regular maintence this is the first repair I have ever had to do! Ls1 is pretty solid motor. At 110k I think that says alot.

Yeah ls1 is really solid. 222.4k on mine and still going. I've romped on mine pretty hard in the past, but been taking it easy the last couple years. As long as you keep up with regular maintenance, these motors typically last a good while. Good luck with your build!

Still waiting on the shipping of the heads.. Sunday I went ahead and bought ls2 lifter trays. These are supposed to be alot stronger than the ls1 trays. And thank you it's probably one of the best looking f bodies in town!

well since no one is following this anymore idk if this matters but tonight i worked alot and got the new oil pump and o ring on, the ls2 timing chain, the new cam, lifters and trays in. Got the crank pully back on, and cleaned up my old water pump. Also do you guys think i should polish out my valve covers, or paint them black?

I wouldn't spend the time polishing. Paint and Fuel rail covers, can't really see the valve covers anyway with these motors unless...you get the relocation brackets.

I'm with above. Just paint them don't worry about polishing. Coming together! Shouldn't be long before you get to drive her again.
