another benefit to a stripper is that there is less items that can break. My 98 SS does lots of garage time and I dont have to worry about the electronics going bad (have 19k miles and owned the car since the day I ordered it).

I would trade all my power accessories for 200 lbs in a second. But i don't think it is quite that big of a difference.

this would be a RARE car called a stripper, correct?

i saw it at a dealer today but it has already been sold it had 27k on it
This must be the same one i was talking about on a recent tread, Was it white, grey int?
Its in conn. its got to be the same one.
I hadn't seen this thread before i wrote mine about the car.
What was the dealer asking ,Do you remember?
The car was ordered like that,by some older people,It was the wifes car.A dealer would never order it like that for dealer stock.
You could get it like that just by not checking off the "prefered option Group" $1700, they all start out as basic cars, just about everyone checks that package off because it has so many desirable options in it that without it the car is dull + baren.
It def doesn't add value to the car, maybe 20 years from now it might add a little curiosity to the car, when they are looked at as antiques,(Even then a nice loaded one will bring "At Least" as much money.people will bypass it for the optioned one.) but right now there are still too many nice loaded models out there + they are still looked upon as transportation, so its hard to want to pay even normal price for one with no options never mind more. That particular one is an auto which compounds the problems he's having selling it.
Auto + no options, That car needs the exact right buyer. But the fact that it is diff does stand out,
just not in a desirable way, more of a curious thing.

But Its a whole package (The Prefered Option Group) that is missing though, so its really bare, No p locks, windows, cruise, remote hatch release, foglamps, electric mirrors,no leather wrapped steering wheel, shifter knob, or e-brake handle,no steering wheel radio controls, keyless entry, alarm,no pwer seat, body side moldings,or rearfloor mats.+
that particular car, a 2001 SS, also had no t-roofs + was an auto. Its amazing how much we take that stuff for granted in our cars, but if some one didn't check that little box when yours was ordered, imagine what the car would be like.

I could never drive a stripper daily. I love my little keychain door unlocker dealy. I've only used my actual door key once, just to see which key unlocked the door.

It seems reasonalbly unmolested, what do you feel has been changed from stock? The wheels + grill are orig.

But The owner said he thinks the roof might have been repainted, because its bubbling.

    Weight Diff for options:
    .6 way seat -7.9 lbs
    .remote lock-0.4
    .p locks -1.8 *
    .p windows -2.7 *
    .bs moldings-1.8
    .hattch rel.-1.8
    .cruise -4.4
    .p mirror -0.4 *
These were for a 95 car but should be basically the same until 02. Total:20.4 lbs Even if you double the ones with the stars ( not sure if thats per window etc.) your still only talking about 25lbs,def. not worth the lack of luxuries for that, that wold make no diff in a race.If the other guy had better tire pressure, or his spare was out or , one was making 2 extra horse power,or shifted,a second earlier,or if the other driver was a little smaller or a,million diff things could offset that,Verdict: not worth living with out all the good stuff for 25 lbs.
Ps.t-roofs are 12.3 lbs but they were a seperate option from the "Prefered Option group"
