Super Sport Ragtop
In 1995, Gary committed to restoring and transforming his '68 raggy. Like the majority of fans, he did everything to retain the body and interior as original, but built the rest of the car cool, like a hot rod. The undercarriage and the motivation was maintained in original condition as was the black bench seat interior. Tamer factory features consist of a woodgrained steering wheel, tachometer and gauge package, rear-mount antenna, power drum brakes, power steering, and dual outside rear view mirrors. The major upheavals took place between the framerails. A new engine, an enhanced and beefed 468 big-block was balanced and blueprinted to achieve optimum street horsepower at 600. Yup, that sounds just about right for Main Street. Goodies include 11:1 TRW pistons, 0.560 lift cam, Manley valves, roller timing chain, dual Carter 600-cfm carburetors, an MSD ignition system, and Jet Hot-coated headers are the main attractions, great stuff for drive-in BS. The drivetrain is nothing less than the vaunted (and noisy) M22 four-speed and 4.56:1 gears in the 12-bolt housing. Want a buzzy street ride? This is it.
