02 cluster fit 98?
i was wondering if an 2002 ss gauge cluster will fit my 98

Yes but: IIRC, some (all?) sending units (at least water temp) for 98 is different from 99-02.
I'm not really sure but if I were you I'd look in to it before starting.

No it will not while the clusters look the same but the 98 computer sends an analog signal to the gauges while the 99-up uses a digital signal from the computer. besides in 98 the water temp gauge is different(it starts at 160 instead of 100 degrees)

there is a 2002 cluster on ebay for cheap that "says" it will fit any year ls1

i just got the car and the gauges are jumping all over, i asked the guy it if will work and he says it will so does anyone els think it wont work?

ya the 98 will only fit 98. cant use any other year

well look at your 98 temp and 02 temp. there different 99+ start at100 and 98 start at 160
