Shaner S2 ported throttle body from 02 TA WS6
I sold my 02 TA last year and hung on to a few aftermarket parts that I am only now getting around to selling. This was one of my favorite mods - a real SOTP difference. Asking $100. No core charge. Shipping extra.

Ah, sorry buddy, but you are mistaken. I will now have to dig up my receipt and post more photos. I spoke to Mark on more than one occasion before I got it. I have e-mails from him about the purchase.

E-Mail from Mark Shaner
I don't know what kind of records Mark keeps about the TBs he has sold, but here is the second e-mail I sent him and his response. I ended up having him make one for me without the epoxy, and kept the original TB which I put back on the car when I sold it. Anyay, here is the e-mail. If you know Mark, ask him if you can verify this before libeling me.

I can have you a new TB out in less than a week.
The S2 gets additional porting and the air chamber gets filled with
epoxy.
The S2 has better throttle response, better ET & MPH and will pull
harder on
the street.
I can make you anything you want. If you don't want epoxy, I will make
you a
S2 with out it. Please ask if you have any questions at all.
Mark

That isn't a Shaner S2. I have a S2 and an S3 sitting right here and that's neither.

Well, I already sent this guy the money. I'm gonna be pissed if it's not a Shaner. He hasn't responded back to me yet about receiving the payment via PayPal...

It's not a shaner S2 for sure. There is no epoxy in the holes. Just look at the pictures on shaner's website and you can clearly see the difference. It MAY be an S1 at best but those are only $75 from shaner directly I believe.
Here is the REAL S2 beside a stock TB:
notice the difference?

It absolutely is a Shaner S2. Did you guys not read my prior post?
I asked Mark Shaner to make me one without the epoxy - read his response. He had no problem with that and ported it for me - it cost me $325 plus shipping because I did not send him my stock one -he used a brand new TB to port.
The reason I wanted one without epoxy was that I was concerned about the epoxy cracking or working loose and getting sucked into the engine. I know that epoxy is strong stuff, but the throttle body is subject to extreme temperature fluctuations and I cannot imagine that the epoxy shrinks and expands in the same fashion as the surrounding metal of the TB. My car was a daily driver and I was putting a lot of miles daily with it and did not want to take the chance. For the record, Mark Shaner told me that he had never had a problem with the epoxied TBs he had sold up to that point (2002), but also told me that the epoxy around the air chamber holes did not result in a great deal of performance difference so I decided the risk/benefit ratio favored opting to have him make me one without it.
Now, I don't know if Mark is able or willing to verify that he sold one to me (Nick Nace) in April 2002. For one thing, he is in the business of selling his throttle bodies, so each one that is resold second hand is one less that he can sell. Nevertheless, I sensed that he is an honest man and he might, if you want to try.
Mikesomething, it went out to you today via UPS. If you don't like it send it back to me and I will refund your money. No questions asked.Last edited by Dr. X; 08-17-2006 at 03:17 PM. Reason: typo
