wifes new car
well we traded in her fully loaded 05 ford 500 and got a 08 G8 v6(nb4 GT is better) i know buts its the wifes car and its better for her and gas. Anyway great car looks good and functions good. My questions is has anyone here ever installed tint before? If so could you tell me how you did it? Cars windows are as clear as a petting zoo. makes me uncomfortable.

Sides are cake. Rears can be a bit of a PITA depending on the window curvature.

so if you buy a roll of tint and did it yourself how do you get the right size film cut for the window? proly just pay someone.

You can see vids of tint being installed on YouTube -- does not look bad to do with the right tools.

yeah i have watched a few but you gotta remember that those people doing it probably have been doing it for a while and make it seem easy. if it was me it would probably make it to the window balled up and have shit tones of air bubbles in it.

I tried that. Very easy to mess the tint up with heat. You can find pre-cut tint on ebay. Again, sides are really easy but the rear window can be a real PITA. You can try the split window method too. But when it comes right down to it, after trial and error you end up spending almost as much money for a half ass hack job doing it yourself. Unless your just hell bent on doing it yourself, I'd have a pro shop do it. Or at least have them do the rear.

The cost of paying someone to tint is definitely worth it. Now you may do fine, but u screw up the rear and have to remove it, then you may toast the rear defrost.
If I were to seriously attempt it, I would probably start by testing on a window or door in my house (easy to remove).
I actually tinted the backside of our house with reflective tint, where u can't see in. Looks decent from a distance, but would be unsatisfactory on my car.
And Congrats on the g8. Not that I'm biased, but they're pretty awesome.

Good choice. I bought one for my wife last year. All she wanted done was have it tinted and some wheels put on it.
Go with the Camaro wheels--this is hers.

Powdercoat them. LOTS of 5th-gen guys out there swapping their wheels out for aftermarket. Pic up a set, black them out, and throw them on.
