WI members, How do i get a speeding ticket dropped?
I live in IL and just received a speeding ticket in WI north of kenosha on 94 going into milwaukee.
I know WI tickets work by a points system, which wont apply to me since I am an IL resident. So how do I get this ticket off my record? do I have to make a court appearance?
In IL many times a judge with give you traffic school and court supervision and the ticket will be dropped, do WI judges do the same?

In California you have to wait 18 months before each driving school to have the ticket dismissed. (I have a clean record after 3 driving schools)
For my 4th appearance before the judge ( I have managed to space my tickets out) I was all smiles and grins about my clean record, but she was not the least bit impressed and reminded me that no I do not have a clean record as I have been to driving school 3 times now ..
Well as the story goes ... I love a yelling red faced spittling contorting angry judge that had to grant me my request for yet another driving school.

I was living in Chicago for school and having to drive to home to Minnesota once a month back in '00-'02. I got a speeding ticket in WI and just never paid it. Three years later (last summer) I wanted to get my CDL permit. Well, I couldn't because the unresolved issue in WI. I called the WI DMV who told me that statue of limitations could no longer require I pay the ticket ($200.60), but I would have to pay a $50 reinstatement fee to get my driving privileges in WI back.
My advise, wait it out if you can. It wont keep your record clean, but you wont have to pay the ticket either. Wisconsin could not do anything to me as long as they didn't catch me driving in their state during that time period. I had been told I had a warrant, but they couldn't cross into MN to serve it for a misdemeanor offense.

Some states have a deal going now where if your license gets revoked in one state, they'll honor the revocation in others. I don't know if I'd just forget about it if I were you.

Mark speaks the truth. That wasn't happening with MN and WI at the that time though. That's how I slid by.

yes.........you have to go to court to fight it.............you can get the points removed by going to traffic school but that won't help you. You would still have to pay the fine and the ticket will be on your record unless you fight it in court. Did you get it from a state trooper?

I would just contact your insurance agency and explain the situation and see if it would affect your rates or not..............It might just be easier to pay the fine(cheaper anyway) depending on your record and how it carries over from state to state you could always ask the Illinois DMV. Some states do not carry over to other states on the record( I dont know for sure if WI is one of them.)

Best bet call a few different lawyers and see what can be done, one thing I have done befor was plea bargain for a differnt offense, a non moving violation offense but that was with local courts not county or state. My personal fav has been D/C with motor vehical, around 125-175 fine or what ever your speeding fine was, not a moving violation and dose not show up on insurance. Been to court a couple dozen times for traffic crap and this has been the only one thats worked for me. Oh ya and there are notes on the back of the ticket that the judge and court clearks read so they know what excactly happend. found that out the hard way when I was 16.

I don't recall any details of the ticket on the back of ours.........it has payment information and when they have your court date and location on ours.........unless it has changed in the last year and a half.

I got a speeding ticket in another state and simply paid the ticket (mailed in the payment) The ticket never showed on my licence. Is there a reason you just can't mail them a payment or was it a serious offense?
