    When making a cam lamp...

What's the best light socket to use and how to attach it to the cam?

I think I'll use a harmonic balancer or timing chain set or wheel. IDK yet. And weld it to the cam.

Lol something like this... I've always wanted to make one but I'm too lazy to go get a junk cam from a scrap yard.

    Oh snap!!

I've seen folks make tables out of old engine blocks before.

Now I get it, and think it would be pretty cool too..

THat wouldnt work very well. You would have a narrow base for a lamp that is tall and has alot of weight up high. It would tip over easily. You either need a heavy base or a large diameter one.

Cam has a hole in the center right? Buy a lamp kit for bottles at Lowes, Cork it and attach a light socket to that. I've made a few Midori Lamps that way.

    Yes, hole in center.

Nice info on lowes, I'll dig out the cam one of these days here soon, clean her up and see if I can find a good base. Someone scrapped a t56 i think and used the 6th gear in it, looks great, but those things are worth a lot of money.
